Mission

What you will drive

Principal-level infrastructure security engineer designing and operating planet-scale authentication, access control, and key management systems protecting OpenAI's AI research and production environments.
- Own architecture and roadmap for core security services (authN/Z, policy enforcement, proxies, key management) from design through production operation.
- Design planet-scale security systems balancing security, reliability, latency, and developer ergonomics across hardware, operating systems, Kubernetes, networks, and CI/CD.
- Lead cross-functional launches with infrastructure and research teams, shaping interfaces, migration plans, and safe rollout strategies across large fleets.
- Build security primitives (identity, attestation, authorization, encryption key lifecycle, access mediation) that become platform building blocks.
- Leverage frontier models and agents to develop automation and detection tooling for identifying and mitigating risks in large-scale cloud and on-premises environments.
- Lead design reviews and threat models for major initiatives; mentor engineers across InfraSec and partner teams on engineering quality and secure-by-default practices.
- Requires strong distributed systems experience, proven track record operating critical security infrastructure at planet scale, and deep security principles expertise.
- Requires demonstrated ability to lead cross-team technical initiatives, expertise in large-scale cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), and excellent communication skills.
