Reading time assumes 238 words per minute, the average silent reading speed for adults. The word count is divided by 238 and rounded up.
How is speaking time calculated?
Speaking time uses 150 words per minute, a typical pace for presentations. Use it to plan talks, podcasts and video scripts.
What is the Flesch-Kincaid readability score?
The Flesch reading ease score rates text from 0 to 100. Higher is easier: 90–100 is very easy (5th grade), 60–70 is plain English (8th–9th grade), and below 30 is very difficult (college graduate level).
What are stop words?
Stop words are common words like "the", "and" and "is" that carry little meaning. They are left out of keyword density so the words that matter in your text show up.
