Mission
What you will drive
The ACLU of Montana seeks to hire a full-time Paralegal to provide essential legal and administrative support to our legal team. Supervised by the Legal Director, the Paralegal is a key member of the Legal Department and contributes directly to the advancement of ACLU-MT's work by providing critical administrative, litigation, and case-management support across active cases. The finalist must be able to multitask effectively, demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, maintain attention to detail, and communicate clearly. The Paralegal will join a staff of 11 committed to defending Montanansโ civil rights from government abuse and overreach. The organization is looking for a candidate with a demonstrated commitment to building or deepening understanding of race equity, in which racial equity and anti-racism and anti-colonialism are centered. The position is fully remote, based anywhere in Montana, with optional access to co-working spaces in select cities. Candidates based in other states must be willing to relocate to Montana within the first three months of start date. All staff are required to meet quarterly for in-person workdays held across the state. The ACLU of Montana pays for work-related travel expenses, including in-person days. The Paralegal will be responsible for providing administrative, litigation, and case-management support across active cases, and will be expected to exercise independent judgment in managing core aspects of legal administration and case support. The ideal candidate will have experience collaborating with attorneys, across departments, and/or with external partners, and will be able to effectively communicate about social justice issues, including Indigenous Justice, 2S-LGBTQIA+, and other ACLU of Montana priorities with diverse audiences and impacted communities.
