Transcription Specialist, Digital Democracy

• Prepare and process legislative video and data for the transcription team.
• Review legislative hearings to pinpoint and log specific bill discussions.
• Clean text to streamline the transcription pipeline and assist with end-to-end transcription of legislative proceedings.

This role supports Digital Democracy, an AI-powered tool that tracks state legislators, helping journalists hold governments accountable and encouraging civic engagement, thereby strengthening democracy.

• Experience with the legislative process in any state, particularly Texas.
• Data tagging, metadata categorization, and data cleanup.
• Familiarity with transcription processes, style guides, and speech-to-text tools.
• Quality assurance, copy-editing, or proofreading for high accuracy.

Full-time position with benefits, represented by the Pacific Media Workers Guild. Salary range: $75,000 to $95,000 per year. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance (95% covered for employees and dependents), 401(k) match, and life insurance at no cost.
