Job description

The Social Media Manager will lead the delivery of social media campaigns to position the American Coalition for Ukraine (ACU) as a voice of authority in pro-Ukraine education and advocacy in the United States. The Social Media Manager will own an editorial calendar that leverages current events, breaking news, and thought leadership across the ACU network. This role will work closely with experts in events, policy, and earned media to build holistic campaigns that increase engagement with our target audiences in the United States and Ukraine. The Social Media Manager will bring a sensitivity to rapidly evolving news in Ukraine and will understand how to adjust priorities quickly when needed. This is a remote, part-time role with required travel to Washington DC twice per year, and working hours that generally overlap with the ET time zone. This role will begin as a 1099 contract with a plan to convert to part-time employment (20 hours/week). Essential Duties & Responsibilities Run a high-performing multi-channel social strategy to position ACU as a voice of authority in pro-Ukraine education and advocacy in the United States Manage an engaging editorial calendar that helps to establish a memorable brand voice Respond to breaking news in our niche, working closely with ACU Communications and Policy teams Consistently monitor key performance indicators to make recommendations to optimize our social strategy Drive audience development plans to grow channels and deepen engagement among key audience segments using paid and owned media strategies Before, during, and in the period immediately after the Ukraine Action Summit, build a strategy that establishes ACU thought leadership, using our network of sponsors, delegates, delegation leaders, and special guests Draft compelling social media imagery and copy (in both English and occasionally Ukrainian), in collaboration with Communications, Policy, and the Creative Team ensuring brand consistency and best practices per platform Engage with audiences on various social platforms in both direct messages and comments Monitor social listening tools daily Consistently identify strategic opportunities for new types of social content, platforms, and communities to achieve department goals and brand elevation Knowledge, Skills & Abilities A background managing public-facing B2B and/or B2C social media accounts Fluency in Ukrainian language (reading, writing) required Strong understanding of best practices for social media by platform, including audience segmentation, content testing, and mobile-first content development Advanced knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn Basic knowledge of YouTube, Twitter, WhatsApp, paid ads (Meta and Google) Optional: WordPress, Google Analytics Knowledge of video editing and best practices for Reels and YouTube content A track record of designing, launching, and optimizing social media campaigns to increase brand affinity and engagement Creative storytelling skills, with experience crafting effective social content that exemplifies a brand’s voice and drives users to engage An understanding of how email marketing, SEO, paid and earned media can complement a social media strategy Familiarity with social listening and/or media monitoring tools The ability to communicate clearly with non-technical teammates about how digital tactics should shift based on data Dedication to our mission of strengthening American support for just peace and territorial integrity across Ukraine Understanding of cultural and political history in Ukraine and in the Ukrainian diaspora Influencer marketing experience helpful, but not required Education and Work Experience 3-5 years of experience in social media management Experience producing compelling, mobile-first visual content Experience collaborating with a passionate ecosystem of individual & nonprofit stakeholders Hands-on experience overseeing or placing ad buys and measuring effectiveness
