Job description

ABOUT YOU: You are tired of feeling forced to pick sides in a never-ending battle of political good vs. evil when your heart tells you there is a better way. You are motivated to challenge yourself and others by engaging in an open and free exchange of ideas and opinions. You’re seeking a place where you can collaborate with people who vote, think, and worship differently from you. You embrace the opportunity to challenge your own assumptions—and invite others to do the same—in pursuit of better understanding and improving the work you do together. In a society full of ideological echo chambers, you are eager to be part of an organization that builds healthy collaboration to put the wisdom of our faith traditions to work for a better world. ABOUT US: We believe toxic polarization is a spiritual crisis, and that faith offers a powerful response. Our faith traditions teach us to love our neighbors, welcome strangers, and pray for our enemies, providing timeless wisdom for building healthy communities. That’s why we’re building a network of networks that equips faith leaders to speak and act against toxic polarization in ways grounded in their own faith traditions. We support leaders in building strong relationships and networks within their faith communities while creating opportunities to connect and collaborate across faith traditions. Our growing network includes more than 3,500 faith leaders. Ultimately, we want these leaders to shape healthier norms within their own communities while bridging divides across faith communities. Today, we have three thriving networks for Evangelical, Jewish, and Muslim leaders, respectively. We are seeking a Senior Director to connect these leaders across the networks. WHAT WE NEED: As we begin implementing our first strategic plan, we are looking for an experienced leader to shape and advance our network strengthening strategy. This person will help build the connections, systems, and approaches that allow faith leaders across our networks to engage and collaborate across religious, racial, and political divides. The Senior Director of Network Strengthening will provide strategic direction to a growing team and lead the development of innovative approaches to cross-network collaboration, community organizing, and leadership development. Working closely with other program leaders, they will help ensure our local and national multi-faith efforts reinforce one another and build a sustainable network of faith leaders equipped to bridge divides and take action publicly and independently of One America. If you’re passionate about strengthening networks, guiding outreach teams, and developing strategies that equip faith leaders to organize their communities and bridge divides, this role may be for you! RESPONSIBILITIES: Network Strategy and Development: Develop and lead network-strengthening strategies that advance OAM’s organizational goals, translating strategic priorities into clear plans, partnerships, and outcomes. Guide the development of cross-network initiatives, including national multi-faith and bilateral cohorts, our Lead by Faith leadership initiative, and regional and national gatherings. Identify and advance innovative virtual and in-person approaches that help faith leaders build relationships, share resources, and collaborate across networks. Integrate best practices in community organizing, network development, and leadership development to strengthen local and national efforts. People Leadership and Collaboration: Supervise and develop a growing team by providing strategic direction, coaching, and accountability. Build the team’s capacity to equip local leaders through train-the-trainer models that strengthen faith networks and prepare faith leaders to organize their communities and mobilize others to take action. Guide regional outreach strategies across the Pacific Northwest, Chicago, Tulsa, and northwest Arkansas in partnership with Faith Network Directors to reflect local contexts, strengthen existing faith networks, and advance OAM’s place-based goals. Work closely with the VP of Programs and Senior Director of Faith Leader Support to coordinate priorities and strengthen collaboration across program areas. Foster a team culture that reflects OAM’s values and encourages learning, innovation, and shared ownership. Serve on OAM’s program leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy, cross-program alignment, and shared decision-making. Program Oversight and Learning: Oversee program planning, implementation, and resource allocation to advance network-strengthening goals. Establish program metrics and use data to evaluate progress, inform decisions, and improve strategy by closely working with the Director of Program Systems. Identify and share promising practices across regions and networks, using lessons learned to inform future programming and organizational strategy. Oversee program budgets, grant reporting, and compliance for regional and cross-network initiatives, partnering with program and development staff to align resources, meet grant commitments, and communicate progress and impact. REQUIREMENTS Core Competencies: Expertise in community organizing and network development, including strengthening existing networks and building connections across lines of difference. Ability to translate organizational strategy into clear priorities, systems, and measurable outcomes. Proven ability to develop staff, set direction, and establish accountability. Ability to use data and feedback to evaluate progress and improve strategy and performance. Ability to build relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders, navigate differing perspectives, and advance shared goals. Experience overseeing budgets and grants, aligning resources with strategic priorities, and delivering results. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience and at least 10 years of professional and preferably leadership experience. Proficiency with Google Suite and CRMs such as Zoho One. Other Useful Qualifications Knowledge of specific religious traditions, cultures, and practices.
