How to apply for Growth Manager Africa

Taptap Send

About Taptap Send

Taptap Send is a mobile app for low-cost international money transfers to Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The company focuses on remittance corridors that traditional providers often charge high fees for. Working there means direct contact with diaspora customers and a product that affects how much money families receive.

About the role

This Growth Manager Africa role owns customer acquisition and retention for the US-to-Africa remittance corridor. You will build relationships with African diaspora communities in person, run offline and online campaigns, manage paid media agencies, and handle CRM and customer support by corridor. The job is remote but requires travel across US states to meet communities and grow the customer base.

A typical day

A typical day might include calls with a paid media agency, updating CRM segments for a specific corridor, and responding to customer inquiries across owned channels. Some days you will travel to meet a community organization or attend a diaspora event to build partnerships and source ambassadors. You will also spend time on direct customer outreach and working with Product or Operations to resolve corridor-specific pain points.

Who Taptap Send is looking for

  • 4–5 years in high-growth startups, marketing, or fintech, with hands-on experience running acquisition and retention campaigns.
  • Deep knowledge of and existing networks within African diaspora communities in the US, including community organizations, ambassadors, and influencers.
  • Strong sales, marketing, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage paid media agencies and segment CRM by corridor.
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in an African language strongly preferred. Willing and able to travel across US states for in-person engagement.

Tips for this application

  • Name specific African diaspora communities, organizations, or events you have worked with in the US. Generic mentions of 'diversity' or 'community' will not pass.
  • Quantify your growth results: customer acquisition numbers, retention rates, campaign ROI, or CRM improvements you drove in previous roles.
  • Mention any African language you speak and at what level. This is a strongly preferred requirement, so put it in your resume summary and cover letter.
  • Show you understand remittance corridors. Reference Taptap Send's specific US-Africa routes and how you would grow them, not just fintech in general.
  • State clearly that you are based in the US and willing to travel across states for community engagement. This role requires in-person work, not just remote marketing.

What to cover in your cover letter

Focus on your direct experience with African diaspora communities in the US: which communities, what you did, and what results you got. Explain how you have built trust-based relationships and sourced ambassadors or influencers. Describe a specific growth campaign you executed offline or online, including how you measured success. Mention any African language skills and your willingness to travel for in-person engagement.

Research before applying

  • Review Taptap Send's app, fees, and supported countries for the US-Africa corridor. Know which countries they serve and how their pricing compares to competitors.
  • Study the African diaspora population in the US by country of origin and major community hubs. Identify where Taptap Send's target customers live and gather.
  • Look at Taptap Send's public marketing, social media, and any press about their growth in Africa. Note which corridors they emphasize and what campaigns they have run.
  • Find community organizations, events, and influencers that serve African diaspora groups in the US. Prepare to discuss how you would partner with them.

Likely interview topics

Based on the job description, expect questions about:

  • Which African diaspora communities in the US do you already have relationships with, and how would you deepen those for Taptap Send?
  • Walk us through a growth campaign you ran that combined offline community engagement with online advertising. What were the results?
  • How would you segment CRM and customer support by corridor to improve retention for US-Africa remittances?
  • Describe a time you identified a customer pain point and worked with Product or Engineering to fix it. What was the outcome?
  • How would you source and manage community ambassadors and paid media agencies for specific country corridors?

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Applying without any concrete connection to African diaspora communities. This role requires existing networks, not just an interest in the region.
  • Treating this as a standard remote marketing job. The role explicitly requires travel across US states and in-person engagement.
  • Ignoring the fintech and remittance context. Candidates who cannot speak to corridor-specific growth or customer pain points in money transfers will not stand out.

Deadline

No deadline is listed. Roles without a deadline usually close once the employer has enough candidates, so apply soon if you are interested.
