Overview The Grants and Communications Manager plays a critical role in securing the institutional funding that sustains and advances the mission of the Rialto Center for Creativity. This position is responsible for the full arc of the grant relationship, from identifying and researching prospective funders to crafting compelling proposals and stewarding awards through timely, accurate reporting. Beyond grant writing, this role also contributes to the organization's broader communications and marketing efforts, bringing the same clarity and storytelling instinct to a range of written materials. The ideal candidate is a versatile, skilled writer with a curious, entrepreneurial approach to research and a genuine commitment to the Rialto's work. Responsibilities Prospecting Research and identify new foundation, government, and corporate grant opportunities aligned with the Rialto’s capital project, programs, and other priorities Maintain a current and comprehensive calendar of grant deadlines, eligibility requirements, and funder interests Monitor trends in philanthropic giving and emerging funding priorities relevant to the Rialto’s work Build and maintain a database of prospective funders in the Rialto’s CRM and track the status of relationships over time Proposal Writing Write clear, compelling, and well-researched grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting narratives that effectively communicate the organization's mission, programs, and impact Collaborate with staff and board leadership to gather accurate data, budgets, and program information needed for each submission Tailor proposals to each funder's priorities, guidelines, and voice while maintaining consistency with the Rialto’s brand and messaging Manage submission logistics, ensuring all proposals are complete, accurate, and submitted on time Grant Reporting Write thorough and timely grant reports that document program outcomes, financial stewardship, and impact in alignment with each funder's requirements Work closely with staff and board members to gather data, stories, and documentation needed to fulfill reporting obligations Maintain accurate records of all reporting requirements and deadlines to ensure no deadlines are missed Use reporting as an opportunity to deepen funder relationships and lay the groundwork for renewal General Writing and Communications Contribute to the development of marketing and communications materials including brochures, one-pagers, case statements, newsletter content, and donor-facing collateral Support the drafting of impact stories, program spotlights, and client narratives that bring the organization's work to life for a range of audiences Assist with the writing and editing of organizational communications including annual reports, board presentations, and executive correspondence as needed Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency in voice, messaging, and brand across all written materials Edit and proofread materials produced by colleagues to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with organizational standards
