In-house and fractional legal counsel roles across multiple AI safety organizations, with emphasis on rapid decision-making and risk-calibrated advice in novel policy and governance contexts.
- Own legal strategy for 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities; advise leadership on legal exposure, likelihood, and acceptable risk structures for new initiatives.
- Build reusable guidance and templates enabling staff to handle routine legal questions independently while providing fast access for complex matters.
- Manage lobbying compliance across multiple states and federal requirements; handle corporate compliance, employment, contracts, and litigation preparedness.
- Requires 5+ years legal practice experience and US bar admission; comfort with ambiguity and novel legal landscapes essential.
- Full-time or fractional roles available; remote, Washington DC, or Berkeley CA with preference for in-person given fast-moving context.
