Job description

About Us The Esophageal Cancer Awareness Association (EC Aware) is a dedicated 100% volunteer-led nonprofit on a mission to support those affected by esophageal cancer, promote awareness of esophageal health, and empower patients and caregivers with critical resources. Because we operate without paid staff, every dollar we raise goes directly toward research, patient networking, and education. We are at an exciting point of growth and are seeking a mission-driven, tech-savvy Fractional IT Lead to serve as our digital steward. By keeping our technical infrastructure secure, smooth, and integrated, you’ll directly empower our volunteer team to focus on serving patients and families navigating esophageal cancer. The Role We don’t need a massive IT department—we need one reliable, proactive partner to ensure our systems are secure, streamlined, and optimized. As our Technology Steward , you will be the main point of contact for our core volunteer leadership team (<10 core users) and ensure our digital touchpoints (from our website to donor management) function seamlessly. Key Responsibilities Core Systems Management: Administer and optimize our digital stack: Google Workspace (Email, Drive, Admin Panel), WordPress (Website content/plugins), and Salesforce NPSP or CRM (Donor & Community Database). Cybersecurity & Data Privacy: Manage user provisioning/deprovisioning, enforce basic security hygiene (MFA, password management), and protect sensitive donor and patient network data. Tier 1 Volunteer Support: Act as the primary tech contact for our volunteer team—troubleshooting login issues, resolving minor website or email display bugs, and keeping plugins updated. Nonprofit Tech Perks: Help us leverage high-value tech grants and discounts (e.g., Google Ad Grants, free Salesforce licenses, Canva for Nonprofits). Tech Strategy: Advise leadership on simple automation or system improvements that save our volunteers time and streamline patient/donor outreach. Qualifications Technical Stack: Hands-on experience administering Google Workspace and maintaining WordPress sites. Experience with Salesforce NPSP or nonprofit CRM platforms is highly desired. Mission Fit: A personal or professional connection to cancer advocacy, or a strong desire to lend your skills to a volunteer-run health cause. Efficiency & Automation Mindset: Ability to streamline workflows and set up light integrations (e.g., Zapier, web forms) so volunteers spend less time on admin tasks. Clear Communicator: Friendly and patient; able to explain technical steps to non-technical volunteers without jargon. Why Join EC Aware? Direct Impact: Your work ensures thousands of patients, caregivers, and families facing esophageal cancer can access resources, support groups, and vital information. Total Flexibility: As long as our systems are secure and the team gets support when needed, you can set your own schedule. Complete Tech Ownership: Own the IT roadmap for an established national health nonprofit and put high-value tech tools to work for social good.
