How to apply for Enterprise Account Executive

Afresh Technologies

About Afresh Technologies

Afresh is an AI-driven platform that reduces millions of pounds of food waste annually in the fresh food supply chain, making a tangible environmental impact. Working here means joining a mission-driven startup where you can help redefine how grocers manage perishable inventory and contribute to a more sustainable food system.

About the role

As an Enterprise Account Executive, you will own complex, high-value sales cycles with large US grocers, from prospecting to close. You'll be a key player in shaping Afresh's sales processes and culture while solving critical inventory challenges for customers. Your work directly influences the company's growth and its ability to scale its waste-reduction impact.

A typical day

You'll start your day with a pipeline review, then jump into a discovery call with a grocery chain's VP of Operations to understand their fresh inventory challenges. Later, you might collaborate with the product team to tailor a demo, or work on a proposal for a prospective client. You'll also spend time researching new leads and refining your outreach strategy to expand Afresh's enterprise customer base.

Who Afresh Technologies is looking for

  • 10+ years of B2B sales or customer-facing experience, with at least 5 years selling AI or SaaS solutions with contract values exceeding $1M.
  • Proven track record in retail, ideally with grocery, food distribution, or food supply chain, and experience selling data-heavy products in fast-evolving industries.
  • Comfortable navigating complex enterprise sales cycles and building relationships with C-level executives at large grocery chains.
  • Startup or growth-stage experience (company sales between $10M and $100M) is a plus, as is the ability to thrive in a dynamic, process-building environment.

Tips for this application

  • Highlight specific examples of enterprise sales deals you've closed with ACV >$1M, particularly in AI or SaaS, and quantify the impact on the customer's business.
  • Demonstrate your understanding of the grocery industry by referencing current trends, challenges, and how Afresh's AI solution addresses them; avoid generic retail references.
  • Show familiarity with Afresh's product and mission by mentioning their food waste reduction impact and how you can contribute to their sales culture and processes.
  • Emphasize your experience selling data-heavy products and working with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, etc.) to deliver customer success.
  • If you have startup or growth-stage experience, explicitly state how you've helped define sales processes or influenced strategic decisions in a scaling environment.

What to cover in your cover letter

["Your track record of closing complex enterprise deals with ACV >$1M, especially in AI/SaaS, and how you've navigated long sales cycles with executive stakeholders.", "Your specific experience in retail, grocery, or food supply chain, and why you're passionate about reducing food waste through technology.", "How you've contributed to building sales processes and culture in a growth-stage company, and your ability to collaborate with product and engineering teams.", "Your understanding of Afresh's value proposition and how you would articulate it to prospective grocery clients to unlock significant business value."]

Draft a cover letter

Research before applying

  • Explore Afresh's website, case studies, and press releases to understand their product suite, target customers, and recent milestones.
  • Research the grocery industry's current challenges with fresh food inventory management, spoilage, and waste reduction to speak credibly about the pain points Afresh solves.
  • Investigate Afresh's competitors (e.g., Shelf Engine, Invafresh) and how Afresh differentiates its AI-driven approach.
  • Look up recent news about Afresh's funding, partnerships, or expansions to understand their growth trajectory and sales culture.

Likely interview topics

Based on the job description, expect questions about:

  • Walk us through your most complex enterprise sale: How did you navigate multiple stakeholders and what was the outcome?
  • How would you position Afresh's AI platform against competitors in the grocery tech space? What key differentiators would you emphasize?
  • Describe a time you had to build a sales process from scratch in a startup environment. What did you implement and what was the result?
  • How do you approach prospecting and relationship-building with C-level executives at large grocery chains?
  • What metrics do you use to qualify opportunities and manage your pipeline, and how would you apply them at Afresh?

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Avoid generic sales achievements without specific ACV figures or industry context; Afresh needs to see you've handled >$1M deals in AI/SaaS.
  • Do not overlook the grocery/retail requirement—if you lack direct experience, explain how your transferable skills apply and show you've researched the industry deeply.
  • Don't focus solely on closing deals; Afresh values collaboration with product and engineering, so highlight your ability to work cross-functionally and contribute to process building.
