Director of State Policy

Lead state-level AI policy campaigns and legislative strategy across a portfolio of priority states.
- Develop and execute legislative strategy in assigned states: identify champions, maintain stakeholder relationships, represent Fathom in hearings and briefings.
- Draft state-specific policy positions, model legislation, and testimony; translate complex AI governance concepts for legislators and staff.
- Build coalitions with industry, civil society, labor, and public-sector partners to support policy priorities through hearings and endorsements.
- Manage contract lobbyists and consultants; coordinate with communications and federal policy teams on messaging and implementation.
- Requires 5+ years state government affairs, legislative staff, or state policy experience; direct experience leading bills through legislatures essential.
