How to apply for Werkstudent Sales (m/w/d)
Tesvolt
About Tesvolt
Tesvolt Energy enables operators of small and medium battery storage systems to participate profitably in flexibility trading. The company bundles these smaller storage capacities into a virtual power plant and trades them on the energy exchange through top traders. This is a chance to work on data-driven, technically demanding problems close to real-world energy markets.
About the role
As a working student in sales, you support the sales team with daily operations so sales and account managers can focus on customers and partners. You help create revenue projections and economic viability assessments for battery storage projects, and prepare customer and project data for offers and presentations. This role is impactful because your behind-the-scenes work directly enables the sales team to close deals in the renewable energy transition.
A typical day
You might start by updating customer and project data in the CRM, then work on a revenue projection spreadsheet for an upcoming battery storage offer. Later you prepare a presentation for a sales manager and coordinate with the team on outstanding tasks. Most of your day is spent on data preparation and document creation to keep the sales process moving.
Who Tesvolt is looking for
- Enrolled student in business, economics, engineering, or a related field with an interest in renewable energy and energy markets.
- Comfortable working with numbers and spreadsheets to build revenue projections and economic viability calculations.
- Organized and detail-oriented, able to prepare customer and project data cleanly for offers and presentations.
- Self-motivated and reliable in a remote work setting, with good written and verbal communication skills in German and English.
Tips for this application
- Mention any coursework or projects related to energy markets, battery storage, or flexibility trading to show you understand Tesvolt's core business.
- Highlight concrete experience with Excel or similar tools for financial modeling or data analysis, since the role involves revenue projections and economic viability assessments.
- Explain how you keep track of multiple tasks and support a team remotely, because the role is remote and operational.
- If you have prior sales support or customer data experience, describe exactly what you did with offers, presentations, or CRM data.
- Write your application in German if possible, since the job description is in German and the role likely requires German-language communication.
What to cover in your cover letter
Explain why the energy transition and battery storage specifically interest you. Describe your experience with data preparation or financial calculations. Show you understand that this is an operational support role, not a client-facing sales role. State your availability and how you manage remote work.
Draft a cover letterResearch before applying

- Look up the basics of flexibility trading and energy exchange markets to understand what revenue projections for battery storage involve.
- Check Tesvolt's website and LinkedIn for recent news, projects, or partnerships to mention in your application.
- Find out what tools the sales team might use (CRM, Excel, presentation software) and be ready to discuss your familiarity with them.
Likely interview topics
Based on the job description, expect questions about:
- How would you approach creating a revenue projection for a battery storage project?
- What do you know about flexibility trading or virtual power plants?
- How do you prioritize tasks when multiple sales team members need support?
- Describe a time you prepared data or documents for a team under a deadline.
- Why do you want to work at Tesvolt Energy specifically, and what do you know about our business model?
Common mistakes to avoid
- Applying without showing any interest in energy or battery storage, which makes you look like you did not read the job description.
- Focusing only on client-facing sales skills when the role is clearly operational and behind-the-scenes support.
- Ignoring the remote aspect and not explaining how you stay organized and communicative without an office environment.
