How to apply for Trust & Safety Investigator

10a Labs

About 10a Labs

10a Labs provides adversarial red teaming, model evaluations, and intelligence collection to companies deploying AI systems. Their clients include frontier AI labs, AI unicorns, Fortune 10 companies, and global technology platforms. The company works on the safety and threat-intelligence layer for AI, which is a growing field.

About the role

This is a 6-month fixed-term remote contract for a trust and safety investigator. You will work through ticket queues, resolve cases, carry out enforcement actions, and surface patterns. The work involves exposure to difficult material, including sexual, violent, or disturbing content, and includes on-call coverage on a rotating basis.

A typical day

A typical day involves working through assigned ticket queues, resolving cases based on existing policy frameworks, and carrying out enforcement actions. You will surface patterns worth flagging to your lead and escalate anything outside your scope. On-call days may require responding to issues outside standard hours.

Who 10a Labs is looking for

  • Experience in one or more specialty areas: scaled enforcement, fraud and scam prevention, privacy and regulatory compliance, or emerging risk operations.
  • Comfortable reviewing and making decisions on disturbing content, including sexual and violent material, without needing to escalate every case.
  • Able to work through high volumes of tickets while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Available for on-call rotations up to 7 days at a time, with no more than 5 consecutive days on weekends or holidays.

Tips for this application

  • State clearly in your application which of the four specialty areas you have experience in: scaled enforcement, fraud and scam prevention, privacy and regulatory compliance, or emerging risk operations.
  • Mention any prior experience with ticket queues, case management systems, or enforcement actions in a trust and safety context.
  • Acknowledge in your cover letter or application that you understand the role involves exposure to difficult material and on-call coverage, and confirm you can handle both.
  • Highlight any experience working remotely or in distributed teams, since this is a fully remote contract.
  • If you have worked with AI products or platforms before, note that specifically, since 10a Labs serves AI labs and technology platforms.

  • Ignoring the note about difficult material. If you do not address your ability to handle disturbing content, the application may seem unprepared.
  • Overlooking the on-call requirement. Candidates who do not confirm availability for rotating on-call coverage may be screened out.
