How to apply for Training & Resources Coordinator

Kesem National

About Kesem National

Kesem is a nationwide community that supports children through and beyond a parent's cancer. It runs programs led by college student leaders. The national team supports chapters with training, resources, and operations. Working here means your work directly enables student leaders and the families they serve.

About the role

This role supports the Training Manager by producing, maintaining, organizing, scheduling, and distributing training materials and chapter resources. You own the build and upkeep of chapter workbooks, ensuring formulas, links, and calculations stay accurate. You also handle non-fundraising chapter communications. The work keeps learning materials and resources current, accessible, and on time for staff and student leaders.

A typical day

You might start by updating a chapter workbook formula that broke after a policy change. Then you coordinate with the Policy & Compliance team to review a training document, schedule its distribution, and answer a chapter leader's question about a resource. Later you test links in a new training module before it goes live.

Who Kesem National is looking for

  • Experience building and maintaining complex spreadsheets or workbooks, including formulas, calculations, and links.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing production schedules, version control, and distribution of training materials.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, practical tools for staff and student leaders.
  • Comfort working with multiple teams (Program Operations & Quality, Chapter Operations, Policy & Compliance, Systems & Data) to gather and update content.
  • Detail-oriented and reliable with recurring annual review and update cycles.

Tips for this application

  • In your resume, list specific examples of workbooks or resource libraries you built or maintained. Include the tools used (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets) and the scale (number of users, chapters, or pages).
  • Mention any experience coordinating training logistics, scheduling, or version control for learning materials.
  • Use your cover letter to explain how you would keep chapter workbooks accurate as business needs change. Give one concrete example from your past work.
  • If you have worked with college student leaders or volunteer networks, highlight it. Kesem's model depends on student leaders.
  • Check the Kesem website for their programs and chapter structure. Refer to specific programs or resources in your application to show you understand the context.

What to cover in your cover letter

['Your hands-on experience building and maintaining workbooks or resource documents, including fixing formulas and links.', 'How you manage detailed production schedules and distribution for multiple stakeholders.', 'Your ability to work with subject-matter experts to update content annually and translate complex information into clear tools.', 'Your interest in supporting a national network of college student leaders and the children and families Kesem serves.']

Likely interview topics

Based on the job description, expect questions about:

  • Walk us through a workbook or resource you built from scratch. How did you ensure formulas and links stayed accurate over time?
  • How do you handle annual reviews and updates when multiple teams need to provide input?
  • Describe a time you had to translate complex information into a simple, practical tool for non-experts.
  • How would you manage scheduling and distribution of training materials across many chapters?
  • What experience do you have working with college student leaders or volunteer-led programs?

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Submitting a generic resume that does not show specific examples of workbook or resource maintenance.
  • Ignoring the student-leader context. Kesem's training and resources are for college students, not corporate employees.
  • Failing to mention any experience with version control, scheduling, or distribution of materials. This role is detail-heavy.

No deadline is listed. Roles without a deadline usually close once the employer has enough candidates, so apply soon if you are interested.
