How to Apply for Technical Delivery Manager

at HITACHI ENERGY

🏢 About HITACHI ENERGY

Hitachi Digital Services, part of Hitachi Energy, is a global digital solutions business with a bold vision to power good and advance sustainable energy systems towards a carbon-neutral future. They future-proof urban spaces, conserve natural resources, and save lives through innovation, technology, and deep expertise. Employees join a people-centric culture that values life experience, character, and passion as much as technical skills.

About This Role

As a Technical Delivery Manager in Cloud & Data Engineering, you will lead, administer, build, and maintain CI/CD environments for a deployment operations organization. You'll drive operational calls, manage deployments, configuration, and troubleshooting of DevOps tools like Jenkins, Git, SonarQube, Artifactory, and Ansible, while leveraging Azure services such as AKS, IoT, VMs, and Azure DevOps. Your work directly enables Hitachi Energy's mission by ensuring reliable, efficient delivery of cloud and data solutions that power sustainable energy systems.

💡 A Day in the Life

You might start your day with a stand-up call to review deployment pipelines and address any blockers. Later, you could lead an Ops call to troubleshoot a production issue, coordinate with engineers on a new Azure AKS configuration, and review automation scripts for Ansible. You'll also spend time mentoring team members, optimizing CI/CD processes, and ensuring alignment with Hitachi Energy's sustainability goals.

🎯 Who HITACHI ENERGY Is Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD, and deployment operations, with a proven track record of leading and administering CI/CD environments in enterprise settings.
  • Strong conceptual knowledge of AWS/Azure, especially Azure services like AKS, IoT, VMs, Azure DevOps, CDN, Storage, Traffic Manager, NSGs, Load Balancers, WAF, and Ingress/Egress.
  • Hands-on expertise in deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, SonarQube, Artifactory, Ansible) and infrastructure automation activities.
  • Experience driving operational calls, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring smooth CI/CD pipeline operations in a remote, fast-paced environment.

📝 Tips for Applying to HITACHI ENERGY

1

Highlight your experience with Azure-specific services (AKS, IoT, Azure DevOps, etc.) in your resume, as the role emphasizes Azure knowledge alongside AWS.

2

Quantify your impact on CI/CD environments: mention pipeline uptime, deployment frequency, or reduction in manual effort through automation.

3

Emphasize any experience with sustainable energy or mission-driven projects, as Hitachi Energy values contributions to carbon-neutral goals.

4

Include specific examples of driving Ops calls and leading incident resolution, as the job description explicitly mentions this responsibility.

5

Tailor your resume to show proficiency in the exact tools listed (Jenkins, Git, SonarQube, Artifactory, Ansible) and mention any exposure to WAF, Load Balancers, and NSGs.

✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

💬 Prepare for These Interview Topics

Based on this role, you may be asked about:

1 Describe a time you led a major CI/CD transformation or migration. What tools did you use, and what was the outcome?
2 How do you troubleshoot a failed deployment in a complex Azure environment involving AKS, Load Balancers, and NSGs?
3 Explain your approach to driving an Ops call during a critical incident. How do you coordinate between teams and communicate with stakeholders?
4 What strategies do you use to ensure security and compliance in CI/CD pipelines, especially with tools like SonarQube and Artifactory?
5 How do you stay current with evolving Azure services and DevOps best practices, and how have you applied new knowledge to improve delivery?

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Focusing only on AWS and neglecting Azure, as the role requires strong conceptual knowledge of both, with explicit Azure services listed.
  • Underestimating the leadership aspect: this is a manager role that requires driving Ops calls and leading teams, not just hands-on technical work.
  • Providing generic examples of CI/CD experience without tying them to specific tools (Jenkins, Git, SonarQube, etc.) or measurable outcomes.
