How to apply for Sr. Technical Sales Engineer, Europe
Skyven Technologies
About Skyven Technologies
Skyven Technologies builds the Arcturus high-temperature heat pump, which delivers industrial steam at lower cost and emissions than traditional boilers. Customers can buy it with CAPEX or use an Energy-as-a-Service model with zero upfront cost and savings from day one. This is a chance to work on industrial decarbonization with a product that has a clear economic case.
About the role
As a senior technical sales engineer for Europe, you will build the techno-economic case for Arcturus at customer sites. You will read P&IDs, create PFDs and heat and mass balances, and own the full technical sales cycle. The role is remote and full-time, focused on growing European operations.
A typical day
You might start by reviewing a customer's P&ID to identify tie-in points, then build a heat and mass balance to check feasibility. Later, you could join a call with the sales team to present the techno-economic case to a customer. You would also collaborate with internal engineering to refine the integration concept.
Who Skyven Technologies is looking for
- Has strong first-principles thermodynamics knowledge and can interpret customer P&IDs to find tie-in points, process impacts, and risks.
- Can build PFDs and heat and mass balances for feasibility checks.
- Has experience in technical sales or customer-facing engineering, ideally in industrial process heat or steam systems.
- Is detail-oriented, learns quickly, and has an entrepreneurial mindset with a customer-first approach.
Tips for this application
- Highlight specific projects where you interpreted P&IDs or built heat and mass balances for industrial steam or heat pump systems.
- Show you understand the Arcturus product and the Energy-as-a-Service model by referencing them in your application.
- Quantify your impact in previous technical sales or engineering roles, such as number of sites assessed or savings identified.
- Explain why you want to work on industrial decarbonization and how your background fits a remote European role.
- If you have experience with high-temperature heat pumps or industrial steam, make that prominent.
What to cover in your cover letter
Emphasize your ability to develop site-specific integration concepts using thermodynamics. Mention experience with P&IDs, PFDs, and heat and mass balances. Show you can own the full techno-economic case and work with customers. Explain why Skyven's Arcturus and EaaS model appeal to you.
Draft a cover letterResearch before applying
- Study Skyven's Arcturus high-temperature heat pump and how it compares to traditional boilers.
- Understand the Energy-as-a-Service model and its zero upfront CAPEX and savings from day one.
- Research European industrial process heat regulations and decarbonization incentives.
- Look into Skyven's existing projects or announcements to understand their market traction.
Likely interview topics
Based on the job description, expect questions about:
- Walk through a time you interpreted a P&ID to identify tie-in points and risks for a heat recovery or steam project.
- How would you build a heat and mass balance for a first-level feasibility check of an Arcturus installation?
- Describe your experience with industrial steam systems or high-temperature heat pumps.
- How do you explain complex thermodynamic concepts to customers to build the economic case?
- What is your approach to managing the full technical sales cycle from lead to close in a remote setting?
Common mistakes to avoid
- Submitting a generic resume that does not show specific thermodynamics or P&ID experience.
- Failing to mention the Arcturus product or EaaS model in your application.
- Ignoring the remote nature of the role and not showing ability to work independently across Europe.
