SPAR Research Manager

Support and develop mentors leading AI safety research teams in a large fellowship program.
- Serve as primary contact for a portfolio of mentors, helping them scope projects, set expectations, and manage teams effectively.
- Coach first-time research leads on running meetings, giving feedback, and managing mentees with varying experience levels.
- Resolve team conflicts and mentee-mentor breakdowns by understanding root causes and facilitating constructive solutions.
- Advise mentors on research dissemination strategy, including suitable publications, workshops, and conference venues.
- Requires substantial research experience (PhD, research role, or completed projects) and strong interpersonal judgment in sensitive situations.
