How to apply for Solutions Architecture Lead

AMPECO

About AMPECO

AMPECO builds a SaaS platform that companies use to manage EV charging infrastructure, processes, and energy use. The platform is used across North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. The company operates in EV charging, an industry tied to transport and mobility change.

About the role

This is a senior individual contributor role. You guide customers through architecture, design, and delivery of complex technical projects, from pre-sales through go-live. You also own planning, estimation, and risk assessment for bidding and contracting, and you lead onboarding and migration once a prospect becomes a customer.

A typical day

A typical day could include a pre-sales call with a prospective customer to define solution architecture, followed by internal work on estimates and risk notes for a bid. You might also review migration plans for a customer in onboarding or coordinate with engineering and delivery teams on go-live readiness. Ask the hiring team how time is split between pre-sales, onboarding, and post-go-live work.

Who AMPECO is looking for

  • Has hands-on experience architecting and delivering complex SaaS integrations or migrations, ideally in EV charging, energy, or another infrastructure-adjacent domain.
  • Can run pre-sales technical conversations and translate customer requirements into solution architecture and migration strategy.
  • Is comfortable owning project planning, estimation, and risk assessment that feed into bids and contracts.
  • Can lead customer onboarding and migration end to end as a senior individual contributor, not as a people manager.

Tips for this application

  • In your CV or cover letter, name specific SaaS platforms or backend systems you have architected or migrated, and state the scale (number of users, sites, transactions, or countries).
  • Show pre-sales work explicitly: describe a deal where you defined solution architecture, wrote estimates, and flagged risks before contract signing.
  • Reference EV charging, energy management, or OCPP if you have any exposure to it. If you do not, describe the closest comparable domain and how you learned it.
  • Because the role covers France, state your location, languages, and willingness to travel for customer engagements.
  • Keep the application focused on delivery ownership. AMPECO wants someone who can carry a project from first conversation to go-live, so lead with that narrative.

What to cover in your cover letter

Describe one complex customer project you architected from pre-sales through go-live, including the migration approach and how you handled risk. Explain how you estimate and plan work that supports bidding and contracting. State your familiarity with EV charging, energy, or comparable infrastructure SaaS. Confirm your location in France and any language or travel flexibility relevant to customer engagements.

Research before applying

  • Review the AMPECO EV Charging Platform and its documented features, integrations, and supported protocols such as OCPP.
  • Look at AMPECO customer case studies or announcements to see which markets and customer types they serve in Europe.
  • Read about the EV charging market in France, including major charge point operators and roaming networks, to understand the customer landscape.
  • Check AMPECO's careers page and recent news to see how the team is structured and whether the Solutions Architecture function is new or expanding.

Likely interview topics

Based on the job description, expect questions about:

  • Walk through a complex customer engagement you led from pre-sales to go-live. What was the architecture, and what went wrong?
  • How do you build a migration strategy for a customer moving from an existing charging management system to a new SaaS platform?
  • How do you estimate effort and assess risk for a bid when the customer's requirements are still unclear?
  • What do you know about OCPP and the technical realities of EV charging infrastructure?
  • How do you handle a customer whose technical requirements conflict with what the product can deliver today?

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Presenting yourself as a people manager or team lead when the role is explicitly a senior individual contributor.
  • Describing architecture work only in abstract terms without naming systems, protocols, or migration outcomes.
  • Ignoring the pre-sales and commercial side of the role, such as estimation, bidding, and risk assessment.

No deadline is listed. Roles without a deadline usually close once the employer has enough candidates, so apply soon if you are interested.
