How to apply for Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician Team Lead- New Jersey

New Energy Equity (NEE)

About New Energy Equity (NEE)

New Energy Equity has financed and developed over 330MW of solar projects since 2013. The company focuses on clean electricity and operates across multiple regions, including New Jersey. This role supports that installed base through operations and maintenance.

About the role

The Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician Team Lead leads a team of technicians responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, scheduling, dispatching, and reporting in the New Jersey area. The role reports to a Regional Manager and involves up to 50% travel, including short-notice and non-traditional hours. It is a field leadership position focused on safety, compliance, and system performance.

A typical day

A typical day may include dispatching technicians to service calls, reviewing work orders and pre-job briefs, and troubleshooting system issues remotely or on-site. You might coordinate with vendors on warranty claims, update the Regional Manager on sub-region performance, and travel to a New Jersey solar site for inspections or corrective maintenance. Non-traditional hours and short-notice travel can occur.

Who New Energy Equity (NEE) is looking for

  • Has experience supervising or mentoring O&M technicians in solar or a related electrical field.
  • Can troubleshoot and maintain high-voltage systems up to 600Vac and 1500Vdc safely.
  • Is comfortable with up to 50% travel, short-notice trips, and non-traditional working hours.
  • Has worked with OEM requirements, warranties, work orders, pre-job briefs, and preventative maintenance reports.

Tips for this application

  • Highlight any experience leading or training technicians, not just doing hands-on solar work.
  • List specific high-voltage experience with 600Vac and 1500Vdc systems in your resume.
  • Mention your familiarity with New Jersey solar sites, utilities, or local regulations if applicable.
  • Show that you can handle dispatch, scheduling, and contractor oversight, not only field repairs.
  • State clearly that you can travel up to 50% and work non-traditional hours when needed.

What to cover in your cover letter
