How to apply for Software Integration Engineer

Plus

About Plus

Plus is a Physical AI company that builds AI-based virtual driver software for factory-built autonomous trucks. It is headquartered in Silicon Valley with operations in the United States and Europe. Partners include Scania, MAN, International, Hyundai Motor Company, Iveco Group, Bosch, and DSV.

About the role

This role leads Validation & Verification (V&V) for Plus's autonomous driving stack, with a focus on either the planning stack or a safety-rated embedded MCU. You will run hands-on closed-course vehicle testing, create end-to-end software test plans, and build tooling and documentation to improve operational efficiency. The work directly supports the deployment of next-generation autonomous trucks.

A typical day

A typical day may include reviewing test requirements, updating a test matrix, and running or supporting closed-course vehicle tests with engineering and operations teams. You might also write or improve tooling and documentation to make test execution more efficient. The exact split between planning stack and MCU work depends on team assignment, so ask about that in the interview.

Who Plus is looking for

  • Has experience leading V&V for autonomous driving or similar safety-critical systems, with hands-on vehicle testing.
  • Can develop test matrices from product requirements and execute end-to-end software test plans.
  • Has background in either planning stack testing or safety-rated embedded MCU testing.
  • Is comfortable working with engineering and operations teams to build closed-course vehicle testing programs.

Tips for this application

  • Highlight any hands-on closed-course or proving ground vehicle testing experience in your resume, not just lab or simulation work.
  • Name the specific stack you have tested (planning, perception, control, or safety-rated MCU) and the tools you used.
  • Mention experience creating test matrices and V&V plans from product requirements, with concrete examples.
  • Reference Plus's partners (Scania, MAN, International, Hyundai, Iveco, Bosch, DSV) only if you have relevant integration or testing experience with them or similar OEM/Tier 1 programs.
  • Show evidence of building tooling or documentation that improved test operational efficiency, since the role explicitly includes that responsibility.

What to cover in your cover letter

Focus on: 1) Your direct experience leading V&V for autonomous driving or safety-critical embedded systems. 2) A specific example of a closed-course vehicle testing program you planned and executed. 3) How you built test matrices from product requirements and what the outcome was. 4) Any tooling or documentation you created that made testing operations faster or more reliable.

Draft a cover letter

Research before applying

  • Read Plus's public materials on its virtual driver software, especially any technical descriptions of the planning stack or safety-rated embedded MCU.
  • Look up Plus's partnerships with TRATON GROUP (Scania, MAN, International), Hyundai, Iveco, Bosch, and DSV to understand deployment context.
  • Find Plus's Fast Company Most Innovative Companies recognition and any public statements about closed-course testing or V&V practices.
  • Check Plus's careers page and recent news for updates on US and Europe operations, since the role is based in the USA but the company has European operations.

Likely interview topics

Based on the job description, expect questions about:

  • How you would design a V&V plan and test matrix for an autonomous truck planning stack or safety-rated MCU.
  • A detailed walkthrough of a closed-course vehicle test you led, including safety procedures and pass/fail criteria.
  • How you prioritize test cases when product requirements are incomplete or changing.
  • Your experience with embedded MCU testing and safety standards relevant to autonomous vehicles.
  • How you would build tooling and documentation to improve test operational efficiency across engineering and operations teams.
Practise interview questions

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Describing only simulation or software-only testing experience without any hands-on vehicle or hardware testing.
  • Claiming V&V leadership without naming the specific system tested (planning, MCU, or similar) and the test methods used.
  • Ignoring the tooling and documentation part of the role, which shows a lack of attention to operational efficiency.

Deadline

No deadline is listed. Roles without a deadline usually close once the employer has enough candidates, so apply soon if you are interested.
