About Kevala
Kevala provides insights into the relationship between the consumption, production, distribution, and value of electricity by delivering data, analysis, and advisory services via the Kevala platform. Our tools improve electrical distribution grid planning and forecasting efforts while emphasizing decarbonization through the adoption of distributed energy resources such as solar, electric vehicles, and battery storage.
Our customers include utilities, regulators, community choice aggregators, third-party aggregators, solar developers, electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers, and charging infrastructure developers. If you enjoy collaborating with other professionals who believe in accelerating a clean energy future by making energy-related data meaningful, transparent, and broadly accessible, we encourage you to apply!
About the Role
Kevala is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack to join our team. As a full stack engineer on Kevala’s platform team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining front end and backend code that directly contributes to features in our cloud-based web applications.

This engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining API endpoints related to these web app features, but not responsible for delivering pure backend platform capabilities. We have an infrastructure team that furnishes our microservice environments, but this engineer is expected to learn how to operate these services which includes deploying code, monitoring, restarting services, and diagnosing problems.
The applicant must have current, unrestricted work authorization in the United States. This job is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
What you will be doing
Collaborating with product and project managers to plan and develop product features in the Kevala K+ platform.

Working in our Google Cloud-based tech stack, which includes TypeScript, Svelte, Python, Django, Postgresql, Redis, and Kubernetes
Providing technical leadership in architecting, maintaining, testing, monitoring, and improving front end web applications.
Setting a high bar for productivity, cooperation, and code quality as measured by the team’s overall output.
Helping to hire, mentor, develop, and support team members.
What you need to succeed7+ years of experience building modern, framework-based web applications across the full stack from basic microservice operations to API design to front end application development.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
Versatility and enthusiasm for taking on novel problems and learning new technologies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Location
Kevala is headquartered in San Francisco, CA. A hybrid schedule is encouraged for employees hired within commuting distance of our San Francisco office. This position is also authorized for 100% US-based remote work for applicants based elsewhere in the US. The applicant must have current, unrestricted work authorization in the United States. This job is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Benefits
As a Kevalier, you will have access to a wide range of benefits, including affordable health coverage (medical, dental, vision), a physical wellness allowance, a generous time-off policy, flexible work week options, and professional development opportunities.
The compensation for this opportunity includes a base salary range of $120,000 - $160,000, plus equity (stock options). This is our target compensation range and is subject to multiple factors, including level, experience, and location.
