How to apply for Senior Product Manager
Pearl Certification
About Pearl Certification
Pearl Certification is a mission-driven company that certifies efficient homes to increase their value and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By bridging real estate and sustainability, Pearl helps homeowners, agents, and builders recognize and monetize high-performance features. Working here means contributing to a growing movement that aligns financial incentives with environmental impact.
About the role
As the Senior Product Manager for Pearl PRO, you will own the professional-facing platform—a web and mobile app used by real estate agents to integrate Pearl Score into listings and client conversations. This role is central to Pearl's expansion with agents and brokerages, making it a high-visibility position that directly fuels growth. You'll define product strategy, prioritize features, and work cross-functionally to scale a critical revenue driver.
A typical day
You might start with a stand-up with engineering to unblock a feature for the Pearl PRO mobile app, then meet with the design lead to review wireframes for a new agent dashboard. Later, you'd analyze user feedback and metrics to decide on the next sprint's priorities, and end the day collaborating with sales to prepare for a brokerage partnership demo.
Who Pearl Certification is looking for
- 5+ years of product management experience, ideally in B2B SaaS or marketplace products, with a track record of scaling user bases.
- Experience working with real estate professionals, brokerages, or proptech platforms, understanding their workflows and pain points.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort using data to prioritize features, measure impact, and iterate quickly in a remote environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, design, sales, and marketing, and to communicate product vision to external partners.
Tips for this application
- Highlight any experience you have with real estate agents or brokerages—even if not directly in proptech—to show you understand the user.
- Emphasize metrics-driven product decisions: include specific examples of how you improved adoption, engagement, or revenue in previous roles.
- Research Pearl's certification process and Pearl Score, then propose one or two ideas for how Pearl PRO could better serve agents in your cover letter.
- Show familiarity with mobile and web app development cycles, as Pearl PRO spans both platforms and is a key investment area.
- Demonstrate passion for sustainability and energy efficiency, as Pearl's mission is central to its identity and product value proposition.
What to cover in your cover letter
["Your experience building products for professional users, especially in real estate or related industries, and how you've driven adoption.", 'A specific example of how you used data to prioritize a feature that significantly impacted a key metric (e.g., user retention, revenue).', "Your understanding of Pearl's value proposition for agents—how Pearl Score can be a differentiator in listings—and your ideas to enhance Pearl PRO.", 'Your ability to thrive in a remote, cross-functional team and to lead product initiatives from concept to launch.']
Draft a cover letterResearch before applying
- Explore Pearl Certification's website, especially the Pearl PRO section, to understand the current features and how agents use the platform.
- Research the real estate industry's adoption of green certifications (e.g., LEED, Energy Star) and how Pearl differentiates itself.
- Look up recent news or press releases about Pearl's partnerships with brokerages or expansions to gauge growth trajectory.
- Understand the competitive landscape: other proptech tools for agents (e.g., CRM, listing platforms) and how Pearl PRO fits into an agent's workflow.
Likely interview topics
Based on the job description, expect questions about:
- How would you approach prioritizing features for Pearl PRO when balancing agent needs, business goals, and technical constraints?
- Describe a time you launched a product or feature that significantly increased user engagement. What was your process and what did you learn?
- How would you measure the success of Pearl PRO? What key metrics would you track and why?
- Pearl PRO serves real estate agents. How would you gather insights from this user base and incorporate them into the product roadmap?
- Tell us about a time you had to make a tough trade-off between short-term wins and long-term product vision. How did you decide?
Common mistakes to avoid
- Being vague about your experience with professional users or B2B products—Pearl needs someone who understands the agent persona deeply.
- Focusing only on technical product management without demonstrating business acumen or growth mindset.
- Ignoring the mission: Pearl is about sustainability, so candidates who don't show interest in the environmental impact may seem like a poor fit.
