How to apply for Senior Interconnection Execution Engineer

East Point Energy

About East Point Energy

East Point Energy develops, builds, owns, and operates grid-scale energy storage projects. It is an Equinor company and independent power producer with gigawatts of storage projects in development across the country. The company states its core values are driven, dependable, and collaborative, and it hires from a wide variety of backgrounds.

About the role

This role leads interconnection execution across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage development through commissioning and into operations. You serve as the interconnection subject matter expert for projects navigating utility and RTO/ISO processes. You also provide electrical engineering expertise for design review, equipment selection, system integration, and troubleshooting, reporting to the Director of Transmission and Interconnection.

A typical day

A typical day may involve reviewing interconnection study results or agreements with a utility or RTO/ISO, coordinating with development and engineering teams on design or equipment decisions, and tracking risk, schedule, and critical milestones. You might also support commissioning or operations troubleshooting as projects move toward energization. Ask the hiring team how they divide time across development, engineering, commissioning, and operations.

Who East Point Energy is looking for

  • Has led or supported interconnection execution for grid-scale generation or storage projects through utility and/or RTO/ISO processes, including queue management and study phases.
  • Can integrate interconnection requirements across development, engineering, and commissioning teams while managing risk, schedule, and critical milestones.
  • Brings electrical engineering depth for design review, equipment selection, system integration, and troubleshooting on storage or similar projects.
  • Is comfortable operating as a subject matter expert in a remote, full-time role with cross-functional responsibilities from early development through operations.

Tips for this application

  • Name the specific RTOs/ISOs and utilities you have worked with in interconnection queues, and describe your role in study phases, agreements, or milestone management.
  • Use the job title Senior Interconnection Execution Engineer or Senior Transmission & Interconnection Execution Engineer consistently in your materials.
  • Show electrical engineering work on design review, equipment selection, system integration, or troubleshooting rather than only project management.
  • Reference East Point Energy's position as an Equinor company and independent power producer, and its focus on grid-scale energy storage.
  • Address the full lifecycle in your resume: early-stage development, engineering, commissioning, and operations, because the role spans all of these.

What to cover in your cover letter

Emphasize your direct experience as an interconnection subject matter expert with utility and/or RTO/ISO processes. Highlight how you have integrated interconnection requirements across development, engineering, and commissioning. Describe your electrical engineering contributions to design review, equipment selection, system integration, and troubleshooting. Explain your approach to managing risk, schedule, and critical milestones across the project lifecycle.

Draft a cover letter

Research before applying

  • Review East Point Energy's project portfolio and its status as an Equinor company and independent power producer.

Likely interview topics

Based on the job description, expect questions about:

  • Walk through a project where you led interconnection execution from early development through commissioning; what were the key milestones and risks?
  • How do you manage utility and RTO/ISO interconnection processes, and what specific queues, studies, or agreements have you handled?
  • Describe a time you integrated interconnection requirements into engineering design or equipment selection decisions.
  • How do you coordinate across development, engineering, and commissioning teams when interconnection schedules or requirements change?
  • What is your approach to troubleshooting electrical system integration issues during commissioning or early operations?
