Senior Engineering Manager - Data

• Lead the long-term evolution, governance, and operations of Workiva’s multi-tenant data platform sub-function, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide objectives.
• Own the architectural direction, scaling, and continuous improvement of the platform’s ingestion, transformation, and serving layers.
• Directly and indirectly manage a distributed, multi-team data engineering organization, including engineering managers and senior individual contributors.
• Translate high-level enterprise strategy into actionable multi-team roadmaps and set rigorous sub-functional KPIs.

This role ensures Workiva’s data platform operates at global scale with high security, compliance, and reliability, empowering application teams and delivering measurable value to customers, ultimately helping organizations navigate uncertainty and maintain trust.

• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related engineering experience, OR Master’s degree with 6+ years, OR PhD with 4+ years.
• 3+ years of direct people management experience, including supervising entry-level engineering managers or leading multiple concurrent engineering squads.
• Deep technical expertise in modern data platform components: ingestion frameworks (e.g., DLT, Kafka), transformation tools (e.g., dbt), and enterprise serving layers (e.g., Snowflake).
• Proven track record of scaling distributed global engineering teams (US and EMEA) and navigating high ambiguity.

Salary range in the US: $151,000.00 - $242,000.00. Discretionary bonus typically paid annually, Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire, 401(k) match, and comprehensive employee benefits package.
