Senior Director of Development

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for foundations, major donors, and mid-level giving.
• Lead, manage, and mentor a high-performing development team to achieve revenue goals.
• Oversee major gift initiatives, donor events, and donor communications to cultivate and steward relationships.

This role directly supports CalMatters' nonprofit, nonpartisan journalism that explains California policy and politics, helping millions of voters make informed decisions and holding power accountable.

• Five or more years in development roles at a senior management level.
• Proven track record of leading successful development initiatives and engaging donors.
• Experience leading a development team of three or more people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; familiarity with nonprofit media and journalism fundraising is a plus.

Salary range: $155,000 - $170,000 per year. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance (95% coverage for employees and dependents), paid family leave, 401(k) match up to 4%, and life insurance.
