Job description
Role details
Lead GiveWell's media engagement and public affairs strategy, building journalist relationships and managing external communications in fast-moving situations.
- Set strategy for media, thought-leader engagement, and earned communications; decide where GiveWell participates and oversee those engagements.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with journalists, editors, podcast hosts, thought leaders, and other influential external stakeholders.
- Own inbound media engagement, including rapid responses, coordination with experts, and judgment about escalation and reputational risk.
- Advise leadership on external opportunities, prepare senior staff for interviews and speaking engagements, and serve as spokesperson in select forums.
- Requires 10+ years leading media relations, thought leadership, and public engagement end-to-end; demonstrated ability building and developing teams.
