Job description

MiCT is calling for proposals for freelance Security Advisory services in the framework of its program “MiCT Fellowship for Critical Voices 2026-2027” in West Asia, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. This will be a service contract, running from November 2026 - June 2027. MiCT invites interested and qualified people and /or organisations to submit proposals by 1.11.2026.

Introducing MiCT:

Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) is a non-profit organisation delivering expert media services in complex and challenging contexts with passion, precision, and agility.

Through collaborative work with partners, MiCT fosters transparent, inclusive, and fair dialogue supporting resilient societies. Operating across three continents and 15 countries, MiCT facilitates journalist training, media content production, research, monitoring, and supports the financial sustainability of media partners.

About the Project:

Since 2022, the MiCT Fellowship for Critical Voices has supported at-risk journalists and media professionals from conflict regions, enabling them to continue their essential work in safety. The programme is part of the Hannah Arendt Initiative and a member of the Journalists in Distress Network. It offers stipends, security and equipment support, (mental) health services, legal aid, relocation, and professional development through regional hubs.

Description of the role:

To support the Fellows from West Asia, MiCT is looking to provide support and guidance on security matters through trainings, risk assessments and one-on-one mentorship sessions. The focus areas will include, but are not limited to, advanced digital security, identifying, mitigating and responding to digital threats, preventive and responsive protection mechanisms, identifying digital attacks, secure communication, device and data protection, risk mitigation strategies, and individualized support to Fellows facing security threats. The contract will run from November 2026 until June 2027.

The risk assessments should give a comprehensive overview of the person’s security situation, covering digital and/or physical security as required, and providing concrete and prioritised next steps. Any additional mentoring sessions will be agreed upon in writing following the finalisation of the needs assessment.

Application Requirements

Successful applicants should be able to provide proof of the following:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in security risk management in West Asia.
