How to apply for Sales Representative

Portable Electric

About Portable Electric

Portable Electric is a Vancouver-based clean tech company that makes the VOLTstack ecosystem, a line of silent, emissions-free generators. It replaces diesel generators in industries like Film & TV, Construction, Events, and Emergency Response. The company also builds Neuron OS software to manage equipment usage.

About the role

This is a remote, East Coast-based sales role focused on hunting and closing new business in target verticals such as film, construction, events, and emergency response. You will run product demos, prove ROI against diesel generators, and manage existing client relationships to increase usage of VOLTstack units and Neuron OS. You also feed market trends and customer feedback back to marketing and product teams.

A typical day

A typical day might include prospecting for new leads in film studios or construction firms, running a demo of the VOLTstack generator for a potential client, and checking in with existing customers to ensure they are using Neuron OS effectively. You would also spend time updating the CRM, coordinating with marketing on campaign feedback, and preparing proposals that show cost savings versus diesel.

Who Portable Electric is looking for

  • 5+ years of B2B sales experience with a proven record of closing deals worth $1 million or more.
  • Experience selling hardware, equipment rental, or similar physical products is a bonus.
  • Based on the East Coast and willing to work remotely while covering that territory.
  • Aligns with the company's P.O.W.E.R. values: People, Owners, Winners, Entrepreneurs, and Revolutionaries.
  • Comfortable teaching customers how to transition from diesel to electric power and running product demos.

Tips for this application

  • State clearly in your resume or cover letter that you are based on the East Coast, since the role requires it.
  • Quantify your past deals: include specific dollar amounts for deals you closed that were $1 million or more.
  • If you have sold hardware or equipment rental before, call that out explicitly in your application.
  • Reference Portable Electric's target verticals (Film & TV, Construction, Events, Emergency Response) and explain how your network or experience connects to at least one of them.
  • Mention the P.O.W.E.R. values by name and give a short example of how you have acted as an owner or entrepreneur in a previous sales role.

What to cover in your cover letter

['Your track record of closing $1 million+ B2B deals, with specific numbers and examples.', 'Any experience selling hardware, equipment rental, or technical products that require demos and ROI explanations.', 'Your East Coast location and knowledge of the local markets in the target verticals.', 'How you have educated customers on a new technology or helped them switch from an old solution to a new one.']
