What you will drive

  • Conduct an overview of the EPO validation system, including its history, nature, and potential impact on access to medicines in LMICs.
  • Perform statistical analysis of patent application trends through the EPO validation system in Morocco and Moldova.
  • Carry out EPO-level and national-level patent validation searches for selected INNs, and conduct semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders.
  • Draft a final briefing paper, annexes, and slide deck summarizing findings and methodology.

This research will assess how the EPO validation system affects patentability and access to affordable medicines in low- and middle-income countries, directly supporting efforts to reduce health inequities and improve public health outcomes.

Profile

What makes you a great fit

  • Graduate degree in intellectual property law, economics, philosophy, or related field (PhD is a plus).
  • Experience working on research on intellectual property topics, knowledge of patents and patent law.
  • Knowledge or previous experience with intellectual property and access to medicines issues.
  • Advanced computer experience required: MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe.

What's in it for you

Compensation shall be provided in partial payments on a monthly basis for work completed, satisfactory to ITPC’s quality of service for not more than 32 days. Payment will be made within 30 days upon delivery of the monthly invoice.
