Mission
What you will drive
Equality Federation (Institute) is seeking to engage in exploratory discussions with professional services consultants. The purpose is to understand consultants' capabilities, experience, and approaches to assist our organization with LGBTQ+ and Public Health-specific policy tracking. The Request for Conversation (RFC) is a preliminary step before engaging in a formal Request for Proposals (RFP). It is also possible that we hire directly from this RFC process. About Equality Federation & Equality Federation Institute Equality Federation (Institute) is an advocacy accelerator rooted in social justice, building power in our network of state-based lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) advocacy organizations. In 1997, these organizations came together to harness their collective knowledge and power. Since then, Equality Federation has become the leading movement builder, national network, and strategic partner to our 50+ member organizations. Collectively, our member network mobilizes more than 2 million supporters across the country to advance equality and justice. We know that our movement has historically left out people of color, especially Black and brown people, Indigenous people, transgender and nonbinary people, people with disabilities, poor and working-class folks, and many others. We seek to be the best employer/contractor in the movement. Currently, we intentionally practice our theory of change by centering our four core values: integrity, solidarity, boldness, and interdependence. Our organization and work are rooted in a racial justice framework that centers LGBTQ+ Black, Indigenous, people of color, transgender people, and those living at the intersections of these identities. The greatest opportunities for victories to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ people are in the statesโwhere the work is hard, but the impact is great. Equality Federation builds state-based leadership and resiliency through our programs to catalyze the national movement for equality and win policy changes. The Opportunity Equality Federation (Institute) is looking to bring on a contractor to track and deliver a comprehensive analysis of LGBTQ+ and Public Health-related state legislation. Our ideal candidate has prior legislative tracking experience, is well-versed in LGBTQ+ and public health policy, is able to analyze and communicate policy trends, and is comfortable working independently. Successful completion of this project will provide Equality Federation (Institute) and our state partners with a 30,000-foot view of all the proactive and restrictive legislation moving in the states, and an analysis of new trends shaping the landscape. We have $40,000 available for this project and expect the contract to run from November 2026 through June 2027.
