How to apply for Quantitative Economic Modeler - Contractor

Jupiter Intelligence

About Jupiter Intelligence

Jupiter Intelligence is the global market leader in analytics for resilience planning and enterprise climate risk management. The company models the physical and economic impacts of hurricanes, floods, heat waves, wildfires, and drought. Its Jupiter Promise initiative provides services to under-resourced countries and communities.

About the role

This is a contract role in Jupiter's Product organization, building the risk engine behind its economic modeling. You will work directly with the Principal PM for Economic & Financial Modeling. The work supports enterprise climate risk management and resilience planning.

A typical day

You will work with the Principal PM for Economic & Financial Modeling to define and refine the economic risk engine. Most days involve building or reviewing quantitative models, checking hazard data inputs, and translating model results into product requirements. You may also coordinate with other teams in the Product organization to integrate the risk engine into Jupiter's analytics platform.

Who Jupiter Intelligence is looking for

  • Strong quantitative economic modeling skills, including econometric or structural modeling of climate or disaster risk.
  • Experience translating model outputs into a production risk engine or analytics product, not just research papers.
  • Comfortable working with climate hazard data such as hurricanes, floods, heat waves, wildfires, or drought.
  • Able to work as a contractor in the USA and collaborate directly with a principal product manager.

Tips for this application

  • Mirror the job title in your resume summary: quantitative economic modeler with climate risk modeling experience.
  • Name specific hazards you have modeled, such as hurricanes, floods, heat waves, wildfires, or drought.
  • Describe your role in building a risk engine or production analytics system, not only academic modeling.
  • Mention any experience with resilience planning, enterprise climate risk, or economic impact estimation.
  • Address the contract nature of the role directly and state your availability as a USA-based contractor.

What to cover in your cover letter

Explain how you have built or contributed to an economic risk model for climate hazards. Describe your working relationship with product managers or cross-functional teams. Show familiarity with Jupiter's focus on resilience planning and enterprise climate risk management. State why you want to support the Jupiter Promise initiative through your expertise.
