Our ideal candidate is someone who: Has experience advising, coaching, or supporting college-aged students, particularly first-generation or low-income students โ in a college access, college success, or student affairs setting Is relationship-driven and able to build trust quickly with students from diverse backgrounds Is data-informed and comfortable using student data to prioritize outreach and adjust your approach Is excited about building something new with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility Is comfortable with a hybrid role that includes regular travel to meet students at their campuses and at chapter sites Is collaborative and able to work effectively across a national organization and with local chapter teams ABOUT MINDS MATTER Minds Matter connects driven and determined students from low-income families with the people, preparation and possibilities to succeed in college, create their future, and change the world. As part of our Forward, Together strategic plan, Minds Matter is expanding to a 7-year model โ supporting students from high school through college graduation and into career. At the center of that expansion is the College & Career Success (CCS) program, which provides every Minds Matter graduate with dedicated, professional coaching to thrive in college and launch a meaningful career. ROLE DESCRIPTION As our first Program Associate - College & Career Success, you will help build and launch a program that ensures Minds Matter students don't just make it to college, but also thrive, persist, and graduate. Reporting directly to the Chief Program Officer, the Program Associate, College & Career Success will provide individualized coaching, facilitate cohort-based learning workshops, and connect students to the academic, financial, and career resources they need to succeed. This is a unique opportunity to shape a new program from the ground up with significant influence over coaching practices, curriculum, and student experience. Student Coaching & Support Carry a caseload of approximately 80 students, providing regular 1:1 coaching sessions, focused on academic success, campus integration, financial navigation, and career readiness Proactively assess and identify students who are struggling and connect them to campus resources, financial aid support, or other services as needed Support students through major transitions including college entry, academic challenges, financial hardship, and post-graduation planning Conduct campus visits to meet students in person, build relationships, and connect with campus partners Cohort-Based Programming Plan and facilitate monthly group sessions for students across the CCS cohort, focusing on skill-building, peer connection, and college success topics Build community across the Minds Matter national student network by creating opportunities and near-peer connection Chapter & National Coordination Collaborate with chapter staff to support smooth student handoffs from high school programs to CCS coaching Maintain open communication with chapters regarding student progress, challenges, and re-engagement needs Participate in national team meetings and contribute to ongoing program design and refinement Data & Outcomes Track and document all student interactions, goals, and progress using CCS data systems Monitor student academic outcomes including GPA, enrollment status, and persistence milestones Contribute to program evaluation by sharing insights, participating in focus groups, and supporting continuous improvement efforts You are collaborative and able to work effectively across a national organization and with local chapter teams OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Bachelorโs degree required 3+ years of experience in college advising, college success coaching, student affairs, or a related field Demonstrated experience working with first-generation and/or low-income college students Strong organizational and case management skills with experience managing a caseload Proficiency with data tracking systems and student information platforms Able to manage complex tasks and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Comfortable working closely with senior leadership, including regular collaboration with the Chief Program Officer Willingness and ability to travel regularly to meet with students and chapter staff WORK ENVIRONMENT This role is fully remote with domestic travel to campus visits throughout the year. All members of the Minds Matter staff work a four-day workweek from Tuesday to Friday, including meeting outside of standard hours (including Saturdays and evenings) when necessary. Preference will be given to individuals who live in the Pacific Northwest or Midwest. Please note that this role requires the employee to be located within the United States. We are unable to consider applicants residing outside of the United States at this time. COMPENSATION The salary for this position is $65,000 (non-negotiable). Minds Matter offers full healthcare and benefits, a four-day workweek, and a generous PTO policy.
