What you will drive
We're looking for a Communications Coordinator to execute and coordinate the Mainline Stream's communications infrastructure — newsletter production, list management, story curation, and archive maintenance. You'll be the person who turns what's happening across our network — the sermons, the actions, the quiet acts of courage — into a steady drumbeat of newsletters, curated stories, and coordinated outreach that keeps our community informed, connected, and inspired. A background in faith-rooted organizing, nonprofit communications, advocacy, or movement communications is a strong plus. This role is a strong fit for a writer and systems-builder who loves both the craft of a good sentence and the discipline of a well-run content calendar — someone who can sit with a story from the field and know exactly where it belongs next. What You'll Do Newsletter Writing & Internal Communications Write and produce a monthly newsletter for the Mainline Stream team and key stakeholders. Gather updates, resources, announcements, stories, and opportunities from across the stream Keep newsletters timely, well-organized, visually accessible, and true to the tone and mission of Mainline Protestant Stream. Build and maintain a consistent editorial rhythm and content calendar. Support with social media Email Platform & Mailing List Management Manage the Mainline Protestant Stream's existing email platform, keeping it running smoothly and configured to the team's needs. Maintain and organize the mailing list — contact updates, segmentation, basic data hygiene. Upload, format, schedule, and distribute email communications. Track core performance metrics: open rates, click-through rates, engagement trends. Content website updates Storytelling & Content Curation Curate stories, reflections, resources, and field examples that reflect the Mainline Protestant Stream's work and impact. Collect leads, photos, quotes, and updates from members, clergy, organizers, and partners. Spot strong story opportunities for newsletters, public communications, reports, social media, or media outreach. Ensure stories are gathered with appropriate permissions and sensitivity to context. Liaison with Membership & PR Firm Serve as the communications link between Mainline Protestant Stream members and our public relations firm. Share story leads, updates, and field intelligence with the PR firm as needed. Coordinate requests for quotes, interviews, photos, event details, and other assets. Keep communication flowing clearly between organizers, members, leadership, and outside partners. Research & Story Archive Management Research and maintain a story archive or database for the Mainline Protestant Stream. Organize stories, media leads, member highlights, photos, and resources in a searchable system. Track story status, source contacts, permissions, and publication history. Build basic systems for preserving institutional knowledge over time. What You'll Bring Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Experience producing newsletters, email campaigns, or organizational communications. Experience managing an email platform such as Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Action Network, EveryAction, Substack, or similar. Sharp organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple content streams, deadlines, and relationships at once. Experience collecting stories, conducting interviews, or curating content from community members or field partners. Comfort working with faith communities, clergy, organizers, and justice-oriented coalitions. Ability to communicate with care, discretion, and cultural sensitivity. Background in faith-rooted organizing, nonprofit communications, advocacy, or movement communications. Nice to Have Ability to translate complex justice issues into clear, accessible language. Experience working across diverse denominational, ecumenical, or interfaith networks. Strong editorial judgment and an eye for a compelling story. Familiarity with photo management, content permissions, and storytelling ethics. Comfort working independently while staying responsive to a collaborative team. Basic understanding of public relations, media relations, or narrative strategy. Experience with databases, spreadsheets, Google Drive, Airtable, or similar systems.
