Job description

The Opportunity

Resetting the Table (RTT) is seeking a Managing Director, Entertainment to lead the ongoing translation of our Entertainment program’s ambitious vision and strategy into coordinated action, overseeing the team and systems to drive high impact at a pivotal moment of growth. You will supervise three seasoned leaders rich with strategic insights, expertise, and relationships in the industry, leveraging their strengths and stewarding team cohesion and shared direction. This is a role for someone who is energized by building the conditions to support teams to excel and execute at their highest level — a highly organized orchestrator and skilled manager who turns big picture commitments into ongoing workflows and implementation. You will bring deep management experience and knowledge of the entertainment industry to a mission-driven organization with a bold vision for the role popular entertainment can play in countering our societal crisis of division and distrust.

What You’ll Do

This is a leadership role focused on overseeing a talented team, driving the structures and actionable plans that enable its success, and accelerating RTT’s impact in catalyzing humanizing stories in TV, film, and digital content that bridge divides. Your work will include:

Team Leadership & Management (50%)

Lead the Entertainment team to support its greatest strategic impact, working closely with senior leadership and synthesizing members’ distinct expertise and strategic perspectives toward shared goals

Partner with each team member to transform big-picture strategies into focused workplans through regular team meetings and one-on-ones with direct reports

Establish team rhythms and accountability practices that create visibility into progress, surface challenges, and keep workstreams moving forward

Serve as a thought partner and sounding board to the co-CEOs and senior leadership, synthesizing information across workstreams, surfacing opportunities and needs, and ensuring that day-to-day decisions stay aligned with the organization’s longer-term goals

Strategy Execution & Operationalization (30%)

Translate the Entertainment program’s strategies into roadmaps for execution, establishing ongoing priorities, decision-making processes, and timelines to bring the vision to life

Oversee and refine the systems that enable the team to manage complex work effectively, including breaking projects into tasks and deliverables, delegating ownership, tracking progress, and following through across program design and delivery, follow-on action items, and the team’s portfolio of relationships

Steward the production and delivery of RTT's entertainment-facing materials and communications, ensuring work is strategically aligned and reflects a high standard of excellence

Partner with RTT's development team to ensure capturing of the evidence, stories, and relationship data that demonstrate program impact and enhance funder reporting

Alumni Engagement Strategy (20%)

Hone a strategic approach to activating RTT’s alumni network, strengthening the systems, data, and engagement practices needed to deepen relationships, identify high-value opportunities, and deepen impact and connections across the industry

Oversee the creation of meaningful pathways for alumni to stay engaged with RTT, integrating alumni engagement into the Entertainment team’s priority work and creating opportunities for alumni to deepen their learning and collaboration with RTT

Continuously assess and evolve the alumni engagement strategy, identifying opportunities to increase participation and maximize the network’s contribution to RTT’s cultural impact and footprint in the entertainment industry

What makes you a great fit

Who You Are

You're the person who makes things run. You look at a complex web of people, timelines, and deliverables and instinctively start building the structure that moves it all forward with a high bar for excellence.

You know the entertainment industry from the inside. You speak the language, understand the dynamics, and know how the industry moves. You can look at our team and alumni community and see the depth of experience and potential for strong impact it represents.
You bring out the best in the people around you. You lead by partnering—setting clear direction, checking in with purpose, and making sure your team has what they need to do their strongest work.

You are motivated by the opportunity to build something exceptional. You care deeply about quality, not just completion. You notice what could be better, ask thoughtful questions, and push toward stronger strategy, clearer execution, and better outcomes. You bring both ambition and discernment to the work, knowing when to move quickly, when to go deeper, and when something is good enough to move forward.

You're as strong in a room as you are behind the scenes. You can represent an organization with credibility at industry events and in Hollywood's professional circles, and you're just as effective at supporting a team to execute at its highest potential and oversee the systems that keep the work running day to day.

You believe in RTT’s mission and Multivocal Storytelling framework. You care about overcoming societal polarization and uplifting dignity, authenticity, and complexity across lines of difference. You believe it is crucial for more Americans to communicate and collaborate constructively across differences in backgrounds and ideological views. You proactively pursue opportunities to learn from divergent perspectives.

What You Bring

A track record of managing teams and driving forward complex, multi-stakeholder work with excellence and discipline

Professional experience in or alongside the entertainment industry, with a working understanding of the landscape, the roles, and how projects move from development through production

Experience overseeing and developing systems and processes that help teams prioritize, create action plans, track progress, and make decisions

Demonstrated ability to synthesize information from across functions and translate it into clear goals and deliverables

Excellent people manager and organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to oversee multiple workstreams and support a team in delivering at its strongest

Experience working closely with senior executives or organizational leaders in a high-trust capacity

Role Logistics:

Evening availability: This role requires periodic availability and participation in evening Entertainment program events, often aligned to Pacific Time.

Travel: If not based in the Los Angeles area, this role requires periodic travel to LA, as well as occasional travel to other locations.
