Local Events Host City Coordinator

• Plan, manage, and execute all local activities for the BUGs national conference in New Orleans, including farm tours, welcome gatherings, and closing parties.
• Coordinate logistics such as venue selection, transportation, catering, and local talent (e.g., DJs).
• Facilitate local host committee meetings and provide status updates on event planning.
• Serve as on-site lead coordinator during the conference (October 23-25, 2026).

This role directly supports Black agrarianism and food sovereignty by organizing a national conference that builds community and leadership among Black growers, addressing systemic inequalities in the food system.

• Existing relationships with local New Orleans farm sites and event venues.
• Deep connections within the local Black farming community.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Total payment of $7,500 (paid in installments). Fully remote, 3-month temporary contractor position (July 2026 to 15 days after October 25, 2026). Opportunity to collaborate with conference planning team and local partners.

Black Urban Growers (BUGs), founded in 2010, builds networks and community support for Black growers in urban and rural settings through education and advocacy around food and farm issues, nurturing collective Black leadership.
