Head of People

• Own and build the People function across operations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, compliance, culture, and team leadership.
• Scale the organization from 40 to 75+ staff over 12 months across multiple geographies.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on org design, compensation, and sensitive personnel decisions.

This role builds the institutional backbone of the AI safety field, enabling FAR.AI to scale its research and policy work that ensures advanced AI is safe and beneficial for everyone.

• 7+ years of progressive HR/People experience, including 3+ years leading a People team or major sub-function.
• Proven full-cycle recruiting success, especially for technical roles, with innovative sourcing and employer branding.
• Experience scaling a people function through significant headcount growth (doubling year-on-year).
• Hands-on experience building at least three of: HRIS, performance management, compensation frameworks, hiring infrastructure, or international employment via EOR.

Compensation: $150,000-$200,000/year depending on experience. Benefits include work-related travel and equipment expenses, catered lunch and dinner at the Berkeley office.
