How to apply for Interconnection Execution Manager

East Point Energy

About East Point Energy

East Point Energy develops, builds, owns, and operates grid-scale energy storage projects, and is now an Equinor company and independent power producer. The team is developing gigawatts of storage projects nationwide to build a cleaner, more resilient, and affordable electric grid. East Point states it hires people from a wide variety of backgrounds because it makes the company stronger.

About the role

This role leads interconnection execution across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage development through commissioning and into operations. You serve as the interconnection subject matter expert as projects move through utility and RTO/ISO processes, integrating interconnection requirements across development, engineering, and commissioning while managing risk, schedule, and critical milestones. The role also provides electrical engineering expertise for design review, equipment selection, system integration, and troubleshooting, and reports to the Director of Transmission and Interconnection.

A typical day

A typical day may include reviewing interconnection study results or utility correspondence, coordinating with development and engineering teams on design or equipment decisions, and tracking milestones and risks across active projects. You might also troubleshoot a technical issue with a commissioning team or prepare updates for the Director of Transmission and Interconnection. Exact routines depend on project stage and RTO/ISO activity, so ask about the current project mix and team structure during interviews.

Who East Point Energy is looking for

  • Has hands-on experience managing interconnection processes with utilities and/or RTOs/ISOs, ideally for grid-scale generation or storage projects.
  • Holds electrical engineering expertise sufficient to review designs, select equipment, support system integration, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Can manage schedules, risks, and critical milestones across development, engineering, and commissioning teams.
  • Communicates clearly with internal teams and external stakeholders, and can serve as the go-to interconnection expert.

Tips for this application

  • Name specific RTOs/ISOs and utilities you have worked with in interconnection queues, and describe your role in those processes.
  • Quantify project scale: MW or GW of storage or generation you supported through interconnection, plus voltage levels and equipment types.
  • Show how you coordinated across development, engineering, and commissioning teams on at least one project from early stage to operations.
  • Describe a specific design review, equipment selection, or troubleshooting problem you solved with electrical engineering judgment.
  • Address the core values listed by East Point (driven, dependable, collaborative) with short examples, not adjectives.

What to cover in your cover letter

['Your direct experience navigating utility and RTO/ISO interconnection processes, with named examples.', 'How you integrate interconnection requirements into development, engineering, and commissioning workstreams.', 'A concrete example of managing interconnection risk, schedule, or critical milestones.', 'Your electrical engineering capability in design review, equipment selection, system integration, or troubleshooting for storage or similar projects.']

Draft a cover letter

Research before applying

  • East Point Energy's current project portfolio: regions, project sizes, and status (development, construction, operations).
  • Equinor's ownership of East Point and how that affects project execution or growth plans.
  • The RTOs/ISOs and utilities where East Point operates, and their interconnection queue processes and timelines.
  • East Point's stated core values (driven, dependable, collaborative) and how they describe their team and work.

Likely interview topics

Based on the job description, expect questions about:

  • Walk through an interconnection process you managed from early development through commissioning. What were the key milestones and risks?
  • How do you coordinate interconnection requirements across development, engineering, and commissioning teams?
  • Describe a time you reviewed a design or selected equipment for a grid-scale storage or generation project. What factors drove the decision?
  • How do you manage schedule and risk when a utility or RTO/ISO milestone slips?
  • What experience do you have with the specific RTOs/ISOs and utilities in East Point's project regions?
Practise interview questions

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Listing interconnection experience without naming specific RTOs/ISOs, utilities, or project outcomes.
  • Focusing only on development or only on engineering, instead of showing you can connect both across the project lifecycle.
  • Using vague claims about managing risk or schedules without concrete examples of milestones, delays, or solutions.

Deadline

No deadline is listed. Roles without a deadline usually close once the employer has enough candidates, so apply soon if you are interested.
