How to apply for Infrastructure Development Lead

Fuse Energy

About Fuse Energy

Fuse Energy is a fully integrated energy company building its own solar, batteries, hardware, and grid infrastructure while selling directly to consumers. It has raised over $200M from investors including Balderton, Lakestar, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, Ribbit, 20VC, Hummingbird, and Collaborative Fund. The company is focused on delivering new power capacity fast as AI drives demand for data centers.

About the role

This role owns data center projects from concept through Ready-to-Build and energisation. You will lead technical and development workstreams across site selection, power strategy, grid connections, planning, engineering, design development, permitting, utility engagement, and delivery readiness. The work directly addresses the bottleneck of grid infrastructure and capacity delivery.

A typical day

You might review site selection data, join a call with a utility on interconnection progress, and coordinate with engineering on design development. Later you could update internal teams on permitting status and delivery readiness for an active data center project. The role is remote, so most coordination happens through video calls and shared project trackers.

Who Fuse Energy is looking for

  • Has led data center or large infrastructure projects from concept through Ready-to-Build, including energisation.
  • Understands power strategy, grid connections, utility engagement, and permitting processes in the US.
  • Can manage engineering, design development, and delivery readiness across multiple workstreams.
  • Comfortable working remotely and coordinating with internal teams, utilities, and external partners.

Tips for this application

  • Map your experience to each phase listed in the job description: site selection, power strategy, grid connections, planning, engineering, design development, permitting, utility engagement, and delivery readiness.
  • Quantify project outcomes: capacity delivered (MW), timelines from concept to Ready-to-Build, number of utility interconnections, or permits secured.
  • Name the specific US markets or regions where you have delivered data center or grid infrastructure projects.
  • Reference Fuse Energy's integrated model (owning generation, hardware, grid, trading, and consumer sales) and explain how your development work fits that model.
  • Address the remote nature of the role directly. Describe how you manage stakeholders and drive projects without being on-site full time.

What to cover in your cover letter

Emphasize your track record taking data center projects from concept to Ready-to-Build and energisation. Highlight specific experience with power strategy, grid connections, and utility engagement in the US. Explain why Fuse Energy's integrated approach to energy and data center capacity matches your development experience. Show you understand the bottleneck is grid infrastructure and capacity delivery speed, not chips.

Draft a cover letter

Research before applying

  • Review Fuse Energy's funding announcements and investor list to understand their growth stage and strategic priorities.
  • Study their integrated model: solar, batteries, hardware, grid infrastructure, real-time power trading, AI, and distributed energy in homes.
  • Research the US data center market and current grid infrastructure bottlenecks to speak to the core problem this role addresses.
  • Look up recent news on data center capacity demand driven by AI and how companies are responding to grid constraints.

Likely interview topics

Based on the job description, expect questions about:

  • Walk through a data center project you led from concept to Ready-to-Build. What were the key milestones and how did you manage them?
  • How do you approach power strategy and grid connection for a new data center site?
  • Describe your experience with utility engagement and permitting in the US. What challenges did you face and how did you resolve them?
  • How would you coordinate engineering, design development, and delivery readiness across a remote team?
  • Why Fuse Energy's integrated model, and how does your background fit the goal of delivering new capacity at speed?
Practise interview questions

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Submitting a generic resume that does not map to the specific phases listed in the job description.
  • Failing to quantify project scale, capacity, or timelines in your experience.
  • Ignoring the remote aspect and not explaining how you manage development workstreams across distributed teams and stakeholders.

Deadline

No deadline is listed. Roles without a deadline usually close once the employer has enough candidates, so apply soon if you are interested.
