Founder in Residence, Scaling grid construction and deployment

• Lead the venture creation process to spin out a company that dramatically reduces the cost of high-voltage transmission construction through fragmentation and modularity.
• Refine and improve the technical thesis for modular transmission tower and foundation construction, including off-site manufacture and rapid deployment.
• Develop commercial strategy, value proposition, regulatory positioning, and fundraising strategy to secure pre-seed investment and achieve Series A readiness.
• Recruit advisory and co-founding team members, and prepare for Investment Committee to spin out the company in Q4 2027.

This role directly addresses the urgent need to expand electricity transmission networks for decarbonisation, enabling faster and cheaper grid construction that is critical for climate goals and electrification of heat, transport, and industry.

• Deep engineering expertise in modular structural systems, advanced connection technologies, lightweight materials, foundation engineering, or automated construction (civil or mechanical engineering core).
• Translational execution experience across the full project lifecycle of large grid or energy infrastructure construction, including regulatory navigation and prototype delivery.
• Strongly preferred: network in transmission operators, EPC contractors, or utilities; BD or fundraising experience; previous founder or C-suite experience in deep-tech or energy infrastructure.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, impact-driven, first-principles thinking, and ability to work in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.

Minimum guaranteed income of £4,166 per month (fixed) as a consultancy fee until company launch and pre-seed investment secured. Initial £250k (~$340k / €290k) investment governed by DSV and Partner Investment Committee. Majority equity stake for you and co-founders. Continuous support post spin-out including fundraising, partnerships, and recruitment.
