Externship / Student Volunteer, Pro Bono Program (Fall 2026 and Spring 2027)

• Conduct legal research projects in animal law under expert supervision.
• Research law firms, bar associations, and continuing legal education opportunities within animal law.
• Complete detailed research on key animal law topics such as housing disputes, animal custody, and breed-specific restrictions.
• Participate in networking activities with Animal Legal Defense Fund staff and fellow externs.

This role supports the Animal Legal Defense Fund's mission to protect animals through the legal system, advancing animal law and ensuring justice for animals.

• Interest in animal law and legal research.
• Ability to work independently and remotely.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Enrolled in law school or equivalent program.

Unpaid externship/volunteer position. Gain hands-on experience, networking opportunities, and develop legal skills.
