Externship / Student Volunteer, Legislative Affairs Program (Fall 2026 and Spring 2027)

• Support animal protection campaigns and legislative advocacy by researching policy issues and analyzing state legislation.
• Prepare correspondence and conduct outreach to supporters, coalition partners, and public officials.
• Collaborate with Communications and other departments to develop and edit campaign content.
• Attend virtual hearings, coalition meetings, lobby days, and advocacy training events.

This role directly supports efforts to advance animal protection laws and policies, contributing to systemic change for animals through legislative advocacy and public outreach.

• Interest in animal law, legislative advocacy, or public policy.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

This is an unpaid externship/student volunteer position. Benefits include gaining hands-on experience in legislative advocacy, networking opportunities, and exposure to animal law.
