How to apply for Engineering Manager, Growth

Atticus

About Atticus

Atticus connects people in crisis to legal and government aid. It has helped hundreds of thousands of people access over $10 billion in aid and has over 20,000 five-star reviews. It is backed by Forerunner, Google Ventures, and True Ventures, and has raised over $100 million.

About the role

You will lead the Growth Pod, a full-stack product pod of four engineers, a PM, a designer, and a data scientist. You will report to the VP of Engineering and own both team health and delivery. The pod's work helps clients find Atticus and understand how it can help them in a moment of crisis.

A typical day

You might start with a pod stand-up, then meet with the PM and data scientist to review experiment results. Later, you could pair with an engineer on a tricky implementation or interview a candidate. You would also report progress and blockers to the VP of Engineering.

Who Atticus is looking for

  • Has managed a full-stack product team, ideally in a growth or user acquisition context.
  • Can set and drive an ambitious roadmap while staying close to the work.
  • Has worked with cross-functional partners including PM, design, and data science.
  • Is comfortable with remote work and accountable for both team health and output.

Tips for this application

  • In your resume, highlight any experience leading a growth pod or a team focused on acquisition, onboarding, or conversion.
  • Name the cross-functional roles you have worked with (PM, design, data science) and what you delivered together.
  • Mention specific metrics you moved in past roles, such as conversion rate, sign-up rate, or user acquisition cost.
  • Reference Atticus's mission and its focus on people in crisis; avoid generic statements about wanting to help people.
  • If you have experience in legal tech, govtech, or benefits access, call it out explicitly.

What to cover in your cover letter

['Your experience managing a full-stack team and owning both team health and delivery.', 'How you have shaped and executed a growth roadmap with cross-functional partners.', 'A concrete example of a growth experiment you led and its measured impact.', "Why Atticus's specific mission—connecting people to legal and government aid—motivates you."]
