About World Vision
VisionFund International is the microfinance arm of World Vision, providing loans, savings, and insurance to vulnerable families in 28 countries, primarily in hard-to-reach rural areas. It uniquely combines financial services with a child-focused mission to end intergenerational poverty, offering employees the chance to drive both economic and social impact. Working here means joining a global network dedicated to empowering caregivers to create secure futures for their children.
About the role
As Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL), you will lead the design and delivery of VisionFund's measurement, evaluation, research, and learning function, ensuring the credibility of impact claims. You will oversee the network monitoring architecture, client voice instruments, external research partnerships, and internal impact evaluations, while building MERL capability across the MFI network. This role is pivotal in strengthening fundraising through MERL design for institutional, philanthropic, and blended-finance proposals, directly contributing to VisionFund's mission to end poverty.
A typical day
A typical day might involve leading a virtual meeting with regional MERL staff to review data collection progress, analyzing impact evaluation results to inform a funding proposal, and collaborating with World Vision colleagues on joint measurement frameworks. You could also spend time mentoring impact staff on new client voice tools or refining indicator architectures to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
