Director of Individual Giving (candidates can be based anywhere in the US)

• Develop and lead plans to build the individual donor program, emphasizing four- and five-figure gifts.
• Manage a portfolio of 75+ current and prospective donors through in-person, phone, video, and email outreach.
• Identify new donors through events, activist database, and other avenues; manage a development team member.
• Support the Executive Director with fundraising responsibilities and provide strategic input as part of the leadership team.

This role directly builds the financial capacity of Climate Defiance, enabling the organization to escalate nonviolent direct action and strategic communications that pressure decision-makers to end the era of fossil fuels and fight climate change.

• At least 5 years of experience in development and individual giving programs, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
• Proven success managing and growing a portfolio of individual donors and securing five-figure gifts.
• Experience scaling a major donor program and identifying high-capacity prospects.
• Comfortable with frequent travel (35-50%) and passionate about addressing the climate crisis.

Salary: $80,000 to $100,000 per year. Benefits include unlimited vacation time (20 days plus Christmas week encouraged), group health care, and a 401(k) with a 7% employer contribution.
