How to apply for Director of Business Process Excellence
Omnidian
About Omnidian
Omnidian is a Series C tech-enabled service company that provides 24/7 monitoring and diagnostics for solar systems and energy storage. It is a certified B Corp headquartered in Seattle. The company operates remotely across the US and focuses on performance assurance for distributed solar.
About the role
This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer on the Strategy team. You will own enterprise process architecture, set process standards, and lead redesign of end-to-end workflows across Go-To-Market, Operations, and Field Services. You will partner with C-suite leaders and be accountable for measurable improvements in cost, risk, and service quality.
A typical day
A typical day might involve meeting with a functional leader to map a current end-to-end workflow, then analyzing where cost, risk, or service quality breaks down. You could spend time drafting enterprise process standards or presenting a prioritized improvement plan to the Chief Strategy Officer. The role is remote, so much of the work happens through video calls and written documentation.
Who Omnidian is looking for
- Experience designing and owning enterprise process architecture across multiple functions, not just one department.
- Track record of leading process improvement that delivered measurable cost, risk, or service quality results.
- Comfortable working as an individual contributor with enterprise-wide scope and direct C-suite partnership.
- Background in tech-enabled services, solar, energy storage, or a related operational industry.
Tips for this application
- Highlight any experience where you set process standards for an entire company, not just one team or region.
- Quantify process improvements you led: cost reduction, risk mitigation, or service quality gains with specific numbers.
- Name the C-suite or senior leaders you partnered with and describe how you influenced them without direct authority.
- Mention any exposure to solar, energy storage, or field services operations, even if not the core of your past roles.
- Explain why you want an individual contributor role with enterprise scope rather than a people management track.
What to cover in your cover letter
In your cover letter, focus on: 1) a specific example of enterprise process architecture you owned and the measurable outcome. 2) How you decided where process change would have the biggest impact across GTM, Operations, and Field Services. 3) Your experience partnering directly with C-suite leaders to drive change. 4) Why Omnidian's B Corp status and solar/storage focus matter to you, using concrete reasons.
Draft a cover letterResearch before applying
- Read Omnidian's website and any public materials about their performance assurance model for solar and energy storage.
- Look up what a certified B Corp commitment means for operations and process decisions.
- Find public information about Omnidian's Series C funding and how the company describes its growth stage.
- Search for the Chief Strategy Officer's background and any public statements about the Strategy team's priorities.
Likely interview topics
Based on the job description, expect questions about:
- Walk us through an end-to-end process you redesigned across multiple functions. What was the baseline, what did you change, and what were the measured results?
- How do you decide which process improvements to prioritize when you have enterprise-wide scope but limited resources?
- Describe a time you had to influence a C-suite leader to change a process they owned. What was the outcome?
- What process standards have you written or owned before? How did you get adoption across teams?
- How would you assess the current state of process maturity at Omnidian in your first 90 days?
Common mistakes to avoid
- Applying as if this is a people management role. It is an individual contributor position with enterprise scope.
- Giving generic process improvement examples without naming the cross-functional impact or measurable results.
- Ignoring the solar and energy storage context. Show you understand the operational realities of distributed energy services.
