Development Officer, Individual Giving, U.S.

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 125 mid-level and emerging major donors ($1,000-$50,000+) through individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
• Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with donors through stewardship calls, virtual meetings, and in-person visits to deepen engagement and increase philanthropic support.
• Identify, qualify, and cultivate prospective major gift donors within the mid-level portfolio through research and relationship-building.
• Solicit annual, multi-year, and planned gifts, and coordinate donor cultivation and stewardship events.

This role directly supports Rainbow Railroad's mission to help at-risk LGBTQI+ people facing violence and persecution access pathways to safety, by securing vital funding from individual donors to enable emergency relocation, crisis response, and other life-saving programs.

• 2-3 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, events, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience using Salesforce or another CRM platform; knowledge of issues facing 2SLGBTQI communities, including LGBTQI+ refugees.
