Data Scientist, Behavior Evaluation

• Design advanced experimental frameworks to validate highway planner behavior in simulation and shadow-mode deployments.
• Model tail risks and rare events using surrogate safety measures.
• Architect scenario-based metrics and surface statistical edge cases.
• Drive cross-functional alignment by translating statistical findings into actionable recommendations.

This role directly contributes to the safety and reliability of autonomous driving systems, ensuring that Zoox's self-driving fleet navigates highways with world-class safety, efficiency, and comfort, thereby advancing the adoption of autonomous mobility and reducing traffic accidents.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a highly quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research, or related).
• 3–6+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist or Quantitative Engineer.
• Strong statistical foundations: hypothesis testing, experimental design, regression analysis, non-parametric/resampling methods, time-series analysis.
• High proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn) and complex SQL queries.
