Staff Litigation Attorney

• Assist in impact litigation to advance software freedom, including copyleft license enforcement (e.g., GPL) and right-to-repair cases.
• Conduct legal research, analysis, and writing on complex software licensing and technology issues.
• Manage multiple projects independently, with potential to grow into leadership in case planning.

This role directly supports the software freedom movement by enforcing copyleft licenses and advancing the right to repair, ensuring users can control and modify their software.

• Admitted (or about to be admitted) to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction.
• Excellent legal research and writing skills; ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions.
• Background in computer science or general familiarity with technology and basic software concepts; enthusiasm for software freedom.
• Detail-oriented, principled, great communicator, and able to manage time across projects; some litigation or FOSS law experience preferred but not required.

Full-time salaried position with benefits including health insurance and paid time off. Remote work with home-office budget provided. Salary range US$80,000 to US$90,000, commensurate with experience.
