How to apply for Corporate Engagement Lead, Colombia
Sinergia Animal
About Sinergia Animal
Sinergia Animal is an international animal protection NGO that fights factory farming and promotes sustainable food systems in Latin America and Asia. They are known for their innovative, high-impact campaigns that have successfully pushed major food companies to adopt higher welfare policies. Working here means being part of a dynamic, mission-driven team that achieves real change for animals.
About the role
As the Corporate Engagement Lead for Colombia, you will be at the forefront of Sinergia Animal's efforts to end intensive confinement of hens and other animals in the country. Your work will involve building relationships with Colombian food companies, understanding their supply chains, and negotiating concrete policy changes that improve animal welfare. This role is crucial because corporate commitments can lead to widespread improvements in farming practices, directly reducing suffering for millions of animals.
A typical day
A typical day might start with checking emails and prioritizing tasks, followed by virtual meetings with companies or internal team members. You might spend time preparing for negotiations, researching a company's supply chain, or drafting proposals for cage-free commitments. Later, you could attend a webinar on animal welfare policy or update your progress in a CRM. While remote, you'll often travel to Bogotá or other cities for face-to-face meetings with key stakeholders.

Tips for this application
- Highlight any specific experience you have with cage-free or animal welfare corporate campaigns, especially in Latin America.
- Demonstrate your knowledge of Colombia's food industry by mentioning key companies, such as Grupo Éxito or Alpina, and their current animal welfare policies in your cover letter.
- Show that you understand Sinergia Animal's approach by referencing their past successes, like their work with major food chains to ban battery cages.
- Emphasize your ability to build and maintain relationships with senior business leaders, and provide examples of how you have done so in the past.
- Since the role is remote, stress your experience with remote work and your ability to manage your own schedule effectively.
What to cover in your cover letter
- Express your passion for animal welfare and your alignment with Sinergia Animal's mission to reduce intensive confinement. - Detail your relevant experience in corporate engagement, particularly any successful negotiations with food companies. - Showcase your deep understanding of Colombia's business environment and your ability to navigate it. - Explain why you are specifically interested in this role and how your skills can contribute to Sinergia Animal's goals in Colombia.
Draft a cover letterResearch before applying
- Research Sinergia Animal's recent campaigns and victories, especially in Colombia or other Latin American countries, to understand their strategies and messaging.

- Understand the regulatory context for animal welfare in Colombia, including any existing laws or industry standards.
- Familiarize yourself with the concept of 'cage-free' commitments and how they are being implemented in Latin America, including any challenges or successes.
Likely interview topics
